Hi bros, have any idea wer can i find tis botak mechanic? future can be quite ex.. if botak is cheaper i wouldnt mine to service my bike...

he is located at 494 macpherson road. 96936520. he may not be cheaper than FS but he only change parts that are really beyond repairs. his pricing quite standard also.....cos he don't purchase in bulk hence unable to really give discount.

ANy bros face any problem of overheating?? is there anyway to bypass the thermostat? everytime it overheats.. the bike dies...

overheat? the fan got on by itself anot?likely your coolant not enough and u long long time no flush liao....

Hi Bros, I've been having a problem with my x8. Wondering if anyone have encountered similar problem.

Did my full servicing earlier this year. Was told by the mechanic to change my original clutch as it's worn out and not gripping well. Was convinced to change to a polini speed clutch. Also told that inner lining of my OEM speed bell is scratched and need to change. Was charged $60 for a used OEM speed bell.

Problem started to surface after 1-2weeks. When I throttle up from rest, between 0-20km/h, can feel the clutch jolting hard and not catching onto the bell. This jolting only happens when I transit from netural to engaging the clutch and disappears when speed picks up. When I went back to the shop, was told by the Owner that a Polini speed bell is more suitable for used with a Polini speed clutch and was advised to change it. Speed bell was changed, transmission was cleaned up and it was nice and smooth when I left the shop.

By the end of second week, same problem surfaced. This time they said try changing the spring to see if the problem can be arrested. All was ok when I left the shop but exact same problem surfaced after 2weeks.

Anybody had similar problem? Hope someone can help..Thanks!

ok thanx for the botak's contact, as for e fan, its on by itself.. coolant enuff.. fluch once.. but i notice the temp wise tend to rise faster.. wen the bike is started n on idling mode.. the temp bar needle is already on the 50% marking.

I did mine at Future. Minus the problem which I'm facing, could feel slightly more power at higher speeds. But for slightly more than twice the price of the OEM parts, don't really feel it's justified spending the $$

for brother burnout69 and dingsa,

I had gone to a few places in SGP to service my bike, along all the kallang area, kaki bukit, toh guan and a few unmentioned places(no names aite).Lots of money, time and effort had been spent so far but to no avail..I got to botak's one day and all seems to change. He taught me a lot bout scooters, take care of my servicing for me and always told me to keep everything OEM if ever I want to ride maxi scoots for a long time.He saved me a lot of money and heartache and in returned I would always recommend his shop to others. My X8 200 went to Melaka,Pahang,K.L,Trengganu..thousands and thousands of kilometer and I'll doubt i'll stop there.I never changed shop for 4 years running now coz so far so good.No major problems to my beloved X8 as i first ride it out of the shop a few years ago.

You can ask me anything bout X8 and i will reply as prompt and knowledgeable as I can.Me no expert but a bit here and there maybe ok la..lols!

Take care bros,ride safe!

Greetings! New owner of X8 200 here.

As recommended by bros here about botak, I went to find him for full svc for clutch.

Indeed, bike became very smooth.

Really give thumbs up for botak. He is honest too with price, coz I didn't change plugs, he minus off the plugs price.

I have always wondered how does scooters compare to cars in terms of power and acceleration.

Like what is the equivalent of 200cc 2T/4T scooters as compared to cars in which cc categories?

Like a T-Max 500 scooter is an equivalent of a Subaru WRX? Cause the pick up is around 5sec? (example only) though scooter can compare in pick up but not in top speed.

Come to think of it, maybe it's the mid range acceleration that is more important in singapore as overtaking is a concern especially when you want to overtake cars in a dangerous situation and the car suddenly speed up with you also making the situation more dangerous.

Example: my 150cc skipper can never over take a normal saloon car like say a Nissan sunny during a situation where example on the road a car is traveling at 80km/h on the expressway where it should have been 90km/h limit but that is the driver choice to travel at what ever speed he/she pleases on the 1st lane (extreme right). So the normal reaction would be to overtake on it's left. While overtaking the car behind is coming at a faster speed also but timing for me is enough time to overtake the right sunny and at the same time a car on my left is merging into the lane I'm going to also.During this time the sunny decide to inceased his speed also. So I would like to ask, how many cc of scooter power do I need to make this overtaking possible. If I go back to where I was before behind the sunny, I would have to brake or release my throttle, I would force the coming car behind me to jammed brake.

If the sunny is a Ferrari, can forget about overtaking it :p

Everyday on the road is so dangerous especially for motorcyclist. So much car. Accelerate die, dont accelerate Kenna squash. Best is follow and queue up behind cars and wait in the jam (ya right!) cars getting more and more powerful. But the drivers don't get more and more responsible ha ha. Experience for scooterist is very important, but too costly to learn. What good can you learn after a crash and don't survive? I know a friend who almost died from Kawasaki KR150 got the insurance money went and bought a R1, guess what almost died again and now body cannot ride anymore. Why?

Ride like you drive a car, dun lane split, ride well in the middle, away from blind spots, let cars win if they push you, scream at them all you want when stopped side by side at the lights.

When you mount on a bike, you are already at risk, whatever Cc your bike is.

Ride safe and ride forever.
