hi guys,

may you share with me and everyone:

1. what is some prevention from a crash eg. inspecting brakes etc..

2. how to identify if you are about to crash (mostly we can feel it but when do we bail?)

3. what to do the moment of impact hits or the bike slides away eg. tuck cover neck or something?

prevention from crash.... never allow ambitions to out weigh talent

identifying crash.. when allowing ambitions to outweigh talent.

at moment of impact.. while sliding off, thinking n regretting to why allow ambition to overshadow talent

:p:P:P

rule #1... take it easy while riding.. enjoy the moment between yer bike n you..bikes are like girls..u need to understand her before u can chiong her..haha

1. Crash prevention: Identify and train-out bad riding habits. Get some trusted manuals (e.g. Twist of the Wrist) and practice. As the saying goes, the problem is usually the nut connecting the handlebars to the seat.

2. Crash identification: I think identifying that something is wrong and that you might crash is straightforward - basically you'll know it because your bike will be doing something that you are not in control of. There are things you can do between identifying that something is going wrong and crashing - but you will need to know what happens when we think we're about to crash and how to overcome/correct those reactions. I recommend the Twist of the Wrist book to help you identify the common things we do wrong when faced with a potential crash. It has done me wonders already. E.g. coming in too hot into a corner, realizing this is a problem, realizing that you've tightened up on the handlebars and are fixated on the gravel, realizing this is bad, consciously loosening up your grip, and swinging your head around so you're looking at the track to where you want to go.

3. Moment of impact: The Twist of the Wrist book recommends relaxing - don't try to slow yourself down by planting your wrists into the ground, don't tuck/curl into a fetal position because you'll start a tumbling motion which can break bones. Just focus on sliding and let the crash take its course. You'll be in your leathers so abrasion resistance is already there. I personally think it's hard to relax at the moment of crashing as your instincts may take over, but once you've realized you've begun crashing, you can consciously take corrective actions like sliding. The book also recommends counting to 10 after you think you've come to a stop. If you crash at high speeds, you might think you've stopped when you're still sliding at 15-20km/h.
