I see...800 plus is a gd price...might just go for the cheapest then as from wat i understand all the slip ons are almost alike,except varying in brands n prices..am i rite?

hi guys..im tinkin of gettin an adventure tourer bt in a dilemma to choose between an african twin or a vara 1000. since u guys r riding vara1k, can tell me e pros n cons? any difference in e fuel consumption?

 

Had both, currently have low miles 02 Vara (70K)

 

Weight: AT lighter, but height works against it.

fuel consumption: AT better, but not by much.

Power: Vara wins (despite weight)

Comfort: Vara Wins, twin seat is narrow and hard, but has better leg room for tall riders.

Looks: Twin wins, (classic style worth a new COE)

Wind protection: Vara wins, (but anoying buffeting for 6" plus riders)

Handling: Vara wins, (both will humiliate the sports 600 on bad roads)

Durability: similar with similar problems.

Theft risk in JB: Twin more likely to be stolen (from experiece)

Price: Vara cheaper.

Parts: Twin cheaper, Vara made in Spain.

Usability Notes:

1. Vara makes a lot of hot air.

2. Twin can go up high curbs, (21"front wheel),

3. Twin can throttle open wide without fear.

4. Vara better two up.

5. Vara feels lighter on the go, but can turn to lead in blink of eye

6. Linked brakes rear calipers can jam and have you off.

 

Over all Vara better road machine, twin better for dirt roads and tracks and the classic look.

H4, no point buying that. Try Phillips 80% about $75. Normal light but longer and brighter.

you can get that near HKL, a few shop from the coffee shop.

Bros, feel EMO today... I was a whiskey close to selling my fatger. I didn't realized that when the buyer said he will take it. My heart sank... suddenly I was lost, felt like a parent sending away his kid away not knowing if I will ever see the kid again.

 

But the feeling only lasted 1 day, as the buyer couldn't buy it as the price is too much for him factoring the insurance.

 

I had decided to keep her and sell the car ( which I did today =0 ) . Guess its a passion riding bike . Its never a transport , unlike a car.

 

So to those bro who had sold off their fatger.. did you have the same feeling as moi?

 

Anyway I will renew her COE, do up the bloody crashbars and who can guide me to a good paint shop? I wanna go ROTHMANS haha
