Had my carbs serviced by a very reputable shop in SG, they did a meticulous job of taking it apart and cleaning it BUT after he pt everything back on the bike, he turned on my inigtion and just reved a few times and said its done.

I enquired naturally about tuning the carbs but he said that it sounds ok.

So my question is this, for a 4 cylinder inline 4 engine (GSX400), after taking apart the whole carb (jets needles etc) you don't have to tune the carbs? How would you know if u need to tune, is it possible to just rev and look at the tacometer + hear sound???

I always thought tuning is a must after carb servicing.

Things done so far:

Brand new rear suspension, new rubbers in carbs, serviced carbs, double bubble windscreen, voltmeter, Pilot Sport tyres, Did o ring + VAZ sprokets, front brake pump, gaskets + waterpump oil seal, Maxima CoolAid, 2nd hand rear hugger, 2nd hand front brake disc, Fizz Power brake pads front and back, 2nd hand front and back rims, Yusa battery, Reconditioned 2nd hand carbs by Planet, Front sticker number plate, front wheel bearings, new clutch plates, fortuna paintwork sponsored by spastic driver, Keitin tank pad.

Need sugar mommy for : Hel brake lines and top end overhaul.

to tune a carb engine,e jetting(needles, etc) needs to be adjusted or changed..to know wat to change and see e results, need to do dyno runs

wat e mech did is based on his experience and 'feel'

Never give the devil a ride..cos he will always want to drive

don't think the mech did a proper job.

basically 4-inline carb disassembled n assemble back needs balancing by using 4 vacuum gauges to check all carb r equibrium balanced. in other words, synchronize.

no matter how good the mech skill r, he can't tell by reving the engine.

even EFI needs synchonizing, without facts by feeling is just BS.

Hmmmm, ill go back to them then, on the pretext that my bike does "feel" right
