Where to register, at Mah Motor? One day trip, wats the internery?

Best to call Lawrence as stated in the poster. Or look for Ying Hao aka Ah Beng at Mah.

Basically we go there eat lunch and come back liao. Not a trip for speed demons as we will be riding together as a group with small cc bikes.

Hi to everybody.I am living in Turkey and own maxsym 400i with 26.000 km mileage.I need some help about to make modification on my bike

(sorry if my english is poor)

I want to improve acceleration and roll on acceleration of my bike and i found two of below modifications but I confused which one I chose

1) harder clutch spring (big spring) + 1200 rpm (I found on ebay)

My bike climb to 5000-5500 rpm during full throttle acceleration (if I put this spring bike climb to 6200-6700 rpm right ?).Accelerates better

2) dr pulley slider rollers 13 gr or 14 gr (I checked orginal is 15 gr).I read all posts in forum but I can not decide 13 gr or 14 gr .How many rpm differences between 13 and 14 gr.( I checked some videos on youtube with 13 gr sliders and it looks Bike accelerates 7000 rpm ).

Sym technical specs says 33,3 horsepower at 7000 rpm

and 3,52 kgm at 5500 rpm.

thanks in advance for your reply and help

Any advice ?

try the JCosta Variator + DrPulley HiT Clutch + Hard Spring

This will improve alot on your acceleration but expect a shorter maintenance period as

JCosta or other modification that gives your bike higher RPM will wear faster than stock parts.

You can email JCosta before buying as they will be able to advise you on what pin weights to get to meet your needs.

Hi guys, i am an owner of a maxsym 400i in KL. Just would like to check with you all in Singapore what the dealers tell you about the service intervals.

Back here in Malaysia the sym service centres(mforce) recommend with change engine oil and gear oil every 2000km latest 3000km, even though the manual says 5000km. Are you all being told the same as thing as well? Thanks.

depending on how you ride your bike, you can check your engine oil level and the color and smell at 1000km interval.

if the

1. oil level is low

2. oil color is dark

3. burn smell very strong

I suggest you change it regardless of the mileage, usually beyond 3000km the burn smell can be notice.

Thanks for the info. Had a long chat with a technician in Penang(scooter assembled there). He also could not give a clear cut answer on the service interval. He suggested maximum around 3000km for engine oil change. Gear oil he says i may opt to change at 6000km. The reason i m bringing this up is the cost of maintaining this scooter. It seems to be quite a costly and time consuming 2 wheeler to maintain if one has to send it for servicing every 3000km(around 3 months for me). Cost about rm170 every service(eng, gear oil & oil filter change+labour).

You dun have to change your oil filter every time you change your engine oil

you can do it every 2nd or 3rd oil change (6000km or 9000km) for you.

Also you dun have to change your gear oil that often, every 10,000 km once is ok

just make sure you use the correct grade of gear oil (85w140) "alot of shop will put in the wrong grade etc. (75w90w)"

Alternatively you can do these oil changes yourself, it's pretty simple and will save you some money if you have the time

not forgetting to check and change your Air Filter every 5000km, change if it's dirty.

also need to check the spark plug also at 10,000km for normal plug, change if its pretty wore (Rear Tyre and brake pads should also be wore by then)

Thanks for the advice hondaoftroy.

Will put it into consideration. My worry is whether the distributor purposely tell you to change everything so frequently so that they can make more money out of you. i find it financially wasteful if that is true. Plus bad for the environment too. I wonder if this is the same case for the other maxi scooters too(e.g. Tmax, BMW C650/600).

Do you have the maintenance manual ?

It's better to know more about your bike than they do

The physical manual no. But you can download one from a site somewhere. It says engine oil once every 5000km. The staff however do not recommend that high though. They worry the engine parts will have too much wear by then. They say 5000km maybe ok for Taiwan cause they don`t ride much on highways as we do here and their weather is cooler. I told them in the summer, their weather can be warmer than ours. Sometimes i wonder if they are trying to pull a fast one on me.

it's kinda true cos our air is more humid also

SYM also mention to check the engine oil level regularly.

Also depending on what kind of engine oil you use

If you're using a good Fully Syn engine oil, you can prolong the service interval as they're more resilient to breaking down.

A semi or mineral based engine oil will not last that long.

if you intent to use this bike for long etc 8 years I will also suggest you change your engine oil often around 3000km max

2000km if you really ride your bike hard etc. always high rev, long period of high speed riding

anyone change battery before. I'm having problem starting my bike sometimes and now after a week of holiday.

I wasn't able to start my bike, thought could be my battery issue as i haven't change it for ard 4 yrs. Bought a new

one and replaced. Still unable to start. Just wondering did i do something wrong. Besides the (+) and (-) main cable,

there is also a black and white thin cable. I attached the white one on (+) and the Black on (-). Is that right?

Posted

wow battery 4 yrs, time to change it..

1st e black and white cables i suppose wld be IU cables, and yes, white is + and black is -

is there instrument light when u turn on?

yes - skip to step 2

no - check battery connection, or fuse block for any broken fuse

is there cranking sound to yr bike?

yes - cld be a weak battery (presume not as u said its new)

no - cld be a broken/bad connection/rusty solenoid starter

- cld be a bad connection starter button, open and clean e inside

try to ask yr mech to rewire IU cable to a switched connection

if u wire IU to a hot connection and insert a low value cash card, it can eat up yr battery as it keep beeping 24hrs non stop.

Get a lithium battery. $180. Last forever...almost. There's a bro in SBF diy a cell pack for our bikes. Had on my previous maxsym. 2-3 weeks of no ride the bike fires up all the time.

My headlights bulbs have fused a couple of times and it's so frustrating to replace the bulbs blindly from the front cowl. I could never unlock the 2 metal pins by myself. Even the bike shops are reluctant to help cos it's too troublesome. Any easier way or tips to share?

Go Nan Wah to change. He will remove the whole front cowl to fix

very troublesome but can fix properly and make the fuse last longer

fixing blindly without removing the cowl is a gamble if not fix properly the fuse will blow again
