use any lube or grease...the only criteria is how long do you expect the lube to last..?

wd 40 will dry out..i personally do not like to use wd 40 as a lube,,for the simple reason it is not a 100% lube..

i only use it to remove stubborn screws/bolts....just imagine it can loosen rust...how strong a chemical it is..wd 40 use it as a temporary fix only..

in the case of cables to flush/ccean out the old lube..and then relube with the correct type. for best result do not use wd 40 as a lube.

yes...but with all lubes..

when it s life is over you need to clean your cable and put in new lube..it could be a few years later depends on the quality of the lube..

if your cables are not retuning smoothly after you have clutch in ..its time for a cleaning and lubbing seesion..

if you can hear it sliding inside the cable sheath definitely need to clean and lube before the cable lengthen and break..and you will be stranded...

For me, I use Silicone Spray with a Cable Luber. Juz like this pix found on the internet. Less mess and faster lubing process.

I have bought the cable luber from LAB before, I don't find it effective, maybe its not genuine, because when I spray silicone grease the lube did not flow into the cable but all leaked out.

Now I use singer oil and drip along the cable and so far its working very well for me.

maybe LAB one no good i tink.. i bought mine online from UK and works well.. no doubt cfm got overflow, but not too much.. a run wif WD40 to clear d dirt n moisture, then use Maxima Chain Wax to lube.. do it every few mths n d cable shud be like new..

I make my own disposable cable lube device.

1. Use masking tape to create a funnel shape, surround end of cable tube.

2. Pour oil (i use engine oil)

3. Hang the cable on hook and wait until oil flow out from other end..

.....

To me WD40 is too light(weight) for lubrication purpose..good for cleaning & prevent rust(storage purpose) only.

i just have the cable lube with a bottle with a tiny spout...hold cable end up right and drop eo ..drop by drop..until the eo comes out the other end..

move cable up and down in the cable sheath to facilitate the flow..
