my humble opinion .... the question is not so much whether Greece deserves to win ... but rather why the favourites failed so miserably (Spain, Italy, France, England etc the list goes on ) The truth is that except for Czech Republic (which was hardly one of the top favourites before the finals), the level of consistency expected from the favourites is missing

jus wondering, those who tink greece sucks...is it becoz they made you lose money? if you forget about bets, i seriously tink they play much much better than portugal. their strategy is good.

i agree on that.juz look at e way they defend.maybe those who lose money can read up e newspaper todae..why portugal lose.

I didn't bet a single cent on Euro 2004 ... juz sat back and enjoyed the games as they were .... and came to the conclusion that Greece are deserving winners ... at least they were consistent

Ah... finally a thread to voice out my thoughts of Greece, the champion team who doesn't possess the aura of a true champion. The whole tournament started to sucks after they got into the quarter-finals. To round things off worse, they defeat France, Czech and finally the last of them to taste the so called "sucker punch" Portugal.

 

If you guys had observed, Greece won every match with just a solitary goal lead. In another words, the way they played totally turns me off. Yes, they may have won the European Cup, but least we should forget, they won it at the expenses that 5 top country were already out and by defending with 5/6 players in the penalty box whenever the opposition attacks. Thats soccer? Come on! They have brought the word "Kiasee/Kiasu" into higher levels!

 

Pls pls pls, I'm looking forward to the day where some country would bring the hillbillys Greeks back to Earth with some "samba soccer", or at the very least a team who believed that "Attacking is the best form of Defence". Imagine the Europeans dominated by a team who shuts up any attack, sit back and just suck up the attack dry. Once or twice, they would try their dog-luck to pop a goal from dead ball situations or set pieces.... Urgh!

greece play boring football...a team of nobodies...but what bout france...a team o full of stars...surely they can beat the greece defence....henry...superb player in premiership...but did he unlock the greek defence made up of greek league and less fancy club players...the truth is that france,czech republic and portugal have not been good enough....they got skill but still not good enough....so they are not worthy to be called champions...the champions are not the team that plays attacking silky football....but gets the results...bottom line is...no use having big name players....league top scorers and big name club players if they can't put the ball in the net...i also tink that portugal suffered from stage fright in the final and were under immense pressure to win...people were always saying...."greece beat france and czech...in final portugal sure win cuz time is up for greeks...portugal got home advantage"portugal have got only themselves to blame...they blew it in front of their own fans....i tink in the first match of this euro....many people thought greece was just another senegal like at the last world cup...but for greece to win the tournament...they had the something extra... bottom line is all the difference is otto rehhagel...he is the master tactician...wat he did was totally amazing...he outwitted scolari in the final....scolari must have expected portugal to win cuz he was so surprised during the press conference..and when asked his tactics....rehhagel said it was secret..that said it all...the guy is a genius...wat is germany waiting for? HAIL KING OTTO!!!

I really want to see Germany and Greece put into the same group in two years time.. Maybe the ball will just be in the center and both teams waiting for each other to attack..
