hi marlboro 79.....this 'break in' procedure is the standard or the normal practice for a general bike....it may or may not suitable for a specific bike like your 'shadows'......anyways here it goes......Do not race the engine for the first 2,000 Kilometers.....Upon reaching the first 1,000 Km. get your engine oil & your oil filter change.....so as to remove as quickly as possible any metal shaving occurs during the 'break in' period.....The next 3,000Km...& any part of the mileage block there after....change your engine oil & your oil filter.....longer say...5,000Km.if you use fully synthetic oil....or 3 months which ever comes first...check & lubricate all joints & linkage especially the final drive chain.

..........decided 2 do?.....then do it!.......2 do nothing is 2 get nothing..........

so i can say:

1. Upon reaching the first 1,000 Km or 500km?(some say 500km). get your engine oil & your oil filter change(maintain 90km/h?)

2. 2nd 1000km remain 90km/h change oil

3. 3rd 1000km reamain 90km/h change oil

4. The next 3,000Km can i start wacking the engine to 120 or 130km/h?

5. so now

a. every 3,000KM i do an oil change if using semi-synthetic oil

b. every 5,000KM i do an oil change if using fully-synthetic oil

next question when can i change to fully-synthetic oil?

am i correct?

You bought a brand new shadow, or you just overhauled your engine?

For a new bike, to be safe, run in following the instructions manual or wat the bike shop advice you to.

Following break-in methods of running the bike hard will be at your own risk.

Hmmm you may wanna check this out bro.

At your own risk of course... but if I get a new bike that's the way I'm gonna do it.
