firstly, i am using a windows 7 with 32 bit. it seems like whenever i go to the properties under my computer i will see this RAM: 4gb (2.46GB usable)

now i understand that as my computer is 32 bit, it won't be able to utilise 4gb ram fully. this is what i have found out after doing some research on the interent. the IT repair team in my school tells me that too. however i am positive that i was ultizliing 4gb ram fully in the past although i was still using a 32 bit windows .o_O this was before my computer was formatted

anyone got any advice?

secondly, how do i create a recovery disc for windows 7 Enterprise? i have tried googling, but all the resutls were about creating a system repair disc. i understand that a system repair disc and a recovery disc is different right? my objective is to create a disc which will alllow me to reinstall my OS next time something happens.

thanks!

In Windows 7, you do 2 things:

1. Create a backup of the computer's hard drive using Windows 7's "Create a System Image" feature. (pictured)

The resultant backup typically goes into a portable hard drive.

2. Burn a system repair disc for yourself. (also pictured)

When the proverbial crap hits the fan, you:

3. Start your sick computer from the system repair disc

4. Plug in your portable hard drive with the backed-up stuff that you made in step #1

5. Use the system repair disc's "Image Recovery" feature to completely restore the backed-up stuff back into your computer. (pictured)

that means the ram that is not used is not wasted? since it also include my graphic memory

There will still be wasted memory since 32-bit OS can only support 3GB+ of RAM due to allocation of memory addresses (layman term - Its limited by the number of house addresses it can put up. The other houses do not have address and cannot be used. Coz Microsoft Corp have taken up the address to build up their empire in your computer [the other 1GB of allocated address space]). To fully utilized the 4GB, just need to upgrade the OS to 64-bit.

With 64-bit, comes another headache. You will need to install 64-bit applications to fully utilize the 64-bit capability (It will run 32-bit applications) and drivers like printers, network have to be installed with a 64-bit drivers.
