I'm looking for a pair of touring tires in preparation for my trip to Thailand. The Pirelli Diablo Strada and Metzeler Roadtec are currently on top of my list. How are these two compare to the Bridgestone BT020? I appreciated your comments. Thanks.

The current 020 is a great sport touring tyre. I got 20000km (down to legal thread depth)on a mix of gentle and thrashy rides. The current 020 tread compound is much better than that of the previous 020 (read 2 years ago) which I used on a Thailand trip b4. This new one is much grippier while giving same or better life.

I have not tried the other brands, having given up on Metzler some 4 years ago.

$-wise, Bridgestone beats the others hands down, and IMHO it gives the best performance-$ for sport-touring/touring tyres.

LAB fit my last pair for $280 (120/180) last month. You need to be patience and watch them with an eagle eye and give the fitter no slack if you want it done right tho.

i have personally used 020 for touring previously.

24,000km and the tyres show abit of a flat spot. threads are still deep. i reckon it can last for another 8,000km.

the grip is ok only on wet rd, i rate 6/10. but if u travel straight, its ok.

the tyres take a long time to warm up as well. hence cannot corner immediately after warming up bike.

hence for touring, i rate it 8.5/10. able to last. good grip on dry rd.

No more regrets.

Biting on the fray of my hair, I muse upon the way to find the oasis of evermore beyond the vertical horizon, I shall join the windupdeads in owl city, neither my safetysuit nor my red jumpsuit apparatus can save me, cuz I mistook a death cab for cutie in plain white T's...

I have read up on this tire as well. The reviews seem good.

I personally dont use touring tires cos my mileage per year is about 5000km, but the review for BT-021 seem to be very good at overseas forum and I a sucker for thread design and liked those tires with front and rear diff design.

I am using contisport attack now, very good and quite cheap for sport tires. About $320.

And it have a very wicked look which I think looked best from all the tires....

I usually sell my old tires always after using one year, but still got lot of meat left...Cos rubber harden after some time....

If u were to ask mi. Go for sport attact but if u dont go track and commute all day >20000km per year, I would suggest touring tires...

just to add on,

020 gives good mileage in terms of

1. able to last long

2. gives better fuel consumption (from 17.6km/litre M1 tyres to 19.6km/litre 020)

No more regrets.
