Renting bike

Hi there, i am going to rent out my bike for say 2 mths.

 

Should i ask the person i am renting it to buy his own insurance? or should i add sub rider?

 

What if there is a traffic offence? How would they know who was riding the bike?

Adding a sub-rider requires about $25. Buying insurance requires a year's payment. They will refund the unused portion, but I don't know if there's any penalty.

 

Being a sub-rider is cheaper for the renter. He's hooking onto your insurance. But if anything goes wrong, it would affect your insurance premium.

 

There's only two person to look for in a traffic offence.

But if he did some LTA offense. caught by camera and not personally of cos they will look up for the owner.

here are afew points to note:

 

1. check with your insurance company to see if you are able to rent out your bike and how much more must you pay. otherwise, if there was a claim, the insurance company may not pay the claim.

 

2. draft out a letter saying who is renting it and for how long. this will clear you if there is any offense during that period.

 

3. collect deposit. this is to saveguard you if your bike was damage or did not pay of the offense.

I don't think so. I managed to get insurance for a bike that's not under my name. I do need the original log card (then) and the owner's IC, though.

i am a safe driver. with about 4 years driving exp and 23 months class 2b exp.

 

22 years of age so adding subrider should be ok.
