Izzy,

Question ..regarding the carnet yes u need to put deposit on your bike value att AAm.to get the carnet ..this is need in world rider to cross the boarder..like chine/jorden/ubez/kagarstan/iran/uk/us..almost all country in world need carnet..THE REASON IS FOR CUSTOM ON EACH COUNTRY U VISIT..SO U CANNOT SELL UR BIKE OR MISSING UR BIKE...IF THIS HAPPEN YOUR DEPOSIT WILL TRANSFER TO COUNTRY WHERE YOUR BIKE MISSING.

CARNET MEANS IS LIKE YOUR MOTOR PASSPORT..SAME LIKE US HAVING OUR PASSPORT.SUPPOST WE ARE AASIAN NO NEED CARNET..BUT

INDONESIA NEED CARNET ..but like thai/laos/combodia u just fill temporary export form when u need to bring your bike to there country

BUT indonesia they need carnet as guarentee to bring bike to their country...Hope u can call me for further explaination. In malaysia only

AAM will come out with carnet...That my experience on bring bike to indonesia..

U will get back your money after u return back to malaysia...

c u bye

overlanded /crossing boarder rider

i have rode in indonesia medan roads before. not too bad... But trucks from belawan might be abit reckless.. pekan baru till jambi mostly are all factories state. so beware of the trucks again.. if u guys think those lorry from msia is gangster wait till u see indonesian ones...

i only went there on holiday and borrowd a vehi to ride / drive around.. so my exp is limited.

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

thanks capt for advise yes u are right ..many truck in laluan selatan but in lalauan barat not much big vehical but the road condition is bed..especially from pesisiran to bengkulu utara/muko-muka and bengkulu..lalaun tengah is the best from lubuk linggau to sawah lunto.

that way we need pickup and a bit power bike..and not too heavy bike..

c u brothers enjoy our riding

I think your schedule is very optimistic.

Sumatran roads are unfortunately not the best in Indonesia and you will lose a lot of time there.

Day 11 malang to Bali/Denpasar is possible, but it might be a bit difficult getting to Lombok considering the ferry takes 5 hours from Bali to Lombok.

Singapore bikes can get a carnet from Malaysia's Automobile Association?

Thats news to me!

Fb666y ,

yes u right from bali tolombok ferry take 5 hrs..that roughly pallaned may can eb adjusted..i know the indonesia road is not to good .people in indonesia asking the place by hrs not distance....lets example from padang to bengkulu they will asking how many hrs not how many km....even 550km they will take 14 to 16 hrs for us 2 days..

FB66y ,yes sngapore bike can get carnet from AAM malaysia..as long their bike out from malaysia and entre to malaysia back...then their can collect they money back after AAm c u the custom stamp in /out.

For your info carnet live is one year....be inform.

F/X

yes cash as deposit..u can c all round the world rider will get the carnet from their own country..for them is cheaper cos their currency and they bike price..

Thanks burnjr for the info.

Can I clarify something:

Carnet processing fee/+membership= RM575

AND PLUS

(1:1) value of your bike RMxx (depending on value of bike)

For argument sake if bike is SGD1K, then its: 575 + 2399 (today rate) = RM2974

Would take be the correct calculation?

If however f/x is right at a simple RM575 then it would be brilliant!

AAS Carnet is SGD15k regardless of type of bike.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Unless they changed the rules I helped a friend with a carnet at 4.5k.

It was 650 Dominator.

it i answer your question.anyway is gd question.

Thanks but that brings up another problem!

Local 3rd party insurance doesn't state the value of the bike.

Only 3rd part fire and theft and 1st party insurance state the value.

Thanks anyways for the info.
