$5 IU Cover Vs $155 IU replacement

Trying calling VICOM Yishun and Sin Ming b4 you go down, to see if they have stock of the old version cover.

If dont have, then try asking your bike shop whether they got old IU boh.

It will.

The card reader's only protection is the cover, and without it the water will easily seep in and that's the end of the IU.

wow, the unluckiest thing happened to me. because of the heavy rain just now, a bike beside mine toppled over mine causing my bike to topple over too. Now my IU is spoil for real this time! bye bye $150....

omg they are really unethical and may i say not very smart either, fancy advising pple to change the whole IU just because the cover is spoilt

Update in 2015. The cover can be changed in VICOM aka inspection centre, but your iu must be in working condition. They will test it and take photos. Cover is free, labour charge is $5.35. Changing is a very easy process.

 

More importantly, there are now at least 2 versions of flat iu. The first version has a thinner hinge on the plastic cover, which breaks easily after long usage. The 2nd version has a thicker hinge, hence material is thicker, so ideally should be harder to break. One version cannot fit the other, so better call up inspection centre and ask before going. Stock is always low.

 

And one lady on the phone advise me to go Autobacs to buy new plastic cover... stress that it's a bike but still insist there got sell... so if anyone going to Autobacs, pls check for us.

Latest update, I had the cover changed today at Viacom Sin Ming.

It now costs $16.05 with gst. Less than 5mins job.

BTW, the new cover does not come with provision to lock unlock the older ones.
