i see i see..so if i were to do it then i should go for the increasin spring tension huhz...but maniahk feedback say wobbly when turn in..so now i'm not too sure abt doing it also...

read his post again bro.. he was using the external fork extension... u will never to able to increase the length of the fork by 6 inches if u were to do the internal spring tension mod... remember u are only compressing the spring.. the original length of the fork remains... so your fork will only "rise up" at the most only 2inch due to the now compressed spring. for your info, mine is only 1 inch more.. jus for less plunging.

it wont come to a catastrophic wobble.

On topic of forks, heard that there would be a minor extension (about .5 to 1 inch) if progressive tension springs are installed in the forks. Am told that this also improves ride quality - am tempted to bring them in and try

Any tips on this? X-iled? anybody?

its the same concept as the internal spacer fork mod.. if i were u.. i;d try out the fork spacer mod first... it might be all that u need.. progressive springs are not cheap... fork spacers is jus the cost of two 11-12 inch long, 1inch diameter copper pipes... instructions u can find on 650ccnd.. do a search on the net and u can find the webby.

Thanks bro!

1. Where should one go for spacer mod, if I were to try it, and how much would it cost (inclusive of labour fork oil etc. - approx)?

2. Wouldn't uniformly high tension fork springs give a hard ride?

3. Checked prices of Hagon prog springs - arnd SGD 160 (I can get it from the UK) Are prog springs available in Singapore?

Thanks again - am itching to mod my ride (performance & safety-based mods first, though) :)

go check out the http://www.650ccnd.com website. its a diy mod. dun need to change fork oil..price of the copper pipe i dunno.. now metals value went up.. u gotta go check it out yourself... all instructions of modding can be found in the webpage..

the springs are not gonna be compressed to the extent where it doesnt have any damping effect. so the hard ride term ..isnt really relevant....your forks originally have spacers in them what u are doing is merely using a longer spacer to add more compression to the springs. it works and its much much cheaper than buying the springs... u use progressive is also a form of stiffening your forks.

Thanks again bro - will add the spacer to my list of weekend projects :) no point wasting money on prog springs after all ...

Just to bring this thread up to top again.

Seems that alot of parts arent available locally. Anyone knows where i can buy those sling blade mirrors and spike handle knobs? If not, anyone who can guide me on the steps to purchase accessories off eBay? Thru vpost or something? Alot of guidance needed.

Moreover, it s rainy season recently plus it s ard 5 to 6pm till i ended my search, the traffic congestion is horrendous. Empty handed. Lousy feeling. haha but i guess that s where we bikers got the thrill of it. :box:

I did, Not even anything close.....

Try checking at Future Scootering, recalled they posted up some images in their website as well as Custom Cycle since both shops in located in Kallang Industrial. Alternatively, you could try Yahoo Auction Singapore as I have seen similar mirror design going on auction before.

Yahoo Auction is down due to technical problems i supposed. I guess i will go to eBay for parts unavailable locally.

What s the exact address of Future Scootering btw?

So far, thanks alot for the kind assistance provided by u guys. :cheeky:

Apparently there are already some XV1900 on the road, saw one in Seng Kang on Sunday. I reckon it was a cruiser outing cuz even Strong Eagle's Valkyrie was there.

Went down to HL yesterday, the XV1300A was on display, and very very impressive. Pity the 1900 was not around.

For those who wanna differentiate the two, the larger one is air cooled while the 1300 is water cooled. Look out for the radiator, fierce looking.

FYI, latest prices as august 2008:

XVS400C Dragstar classic 13.7k

XVS1100 Dragstar Classic 17k

XVS1300A Midnight Star 19.6k

XV1900 Midnight Star 25.8k

All prices OTR and in S$.

But one thing for sure, the pipes....hmmmm.. why won't yamaha just do double slashed pipes? The 2-1 is ...hmmmm....

I think Vance and Hines are necessary...

Anyway, the XV1900 is like 10k lesser than most HD bikes, that's a lot of money!

But then, Stars are Stars and Harleys are Harleys. To each his own.

You guys should go to HL to take a look!

Cheers to your posting bro and 2nd that notion of "TO EACH HIS OWN" coz it's my Primary School motto, DUNMAN PRIMARY SCHOOL....And i do agree about the 2-into-1 pipes, they can always make an exception to the 2-into-2 like the Raider....Anyway, just to share some information, a friend of mine who is staying in Phuket got the only Raider here in Asia via Mah Motor coz HL can't bring it into Singapore, they say "The Specs Are Different", go figure...
