looking at a friend's friend's bike. 25000km mileage only (amazing right). akra end can (not full system). condition 9.9/10.

was quoted 9000. coe end july 2014. is this a fair price? or should i offer lower? initially it was 10.5k den i did some comparison and 9k was my first offer.

dun wanna make a big mistake by offering too high.

thanks for your input guys! :)

u should question the low mileage.

dig history about 2004~2007 model, read previously posts in sbf.

imo will not touch them, better 2 get 2008 n after model.

COE left 2 yrs dat means if u buy it at $9k, depreciation of $4.5k a yr... Dats pretty ex... Low mileage can b for various reasons n hopefully its not for e wrong reason :)

I personally don't think it command such price. Bike of such age can only use accessories or mileage to attract potential buyer and not to increase it selling selling price. Personally I will look at around $7k. And have coil been replaced? They are well known to have defective coil and have an extended warranty for it. But given this age, I think no more warranty liao.

hmm ok... so far i've found out that there're rectifier and stator problems. any other concerns i should take note of? :/

hmm ok. the seller said that it's underutilized. the condition of the bike is 9.9/10 superficially. engine sounds good. tyres pretty new. digital mileage doesn't lie also rite?

alright, so you're recommendation is that i offer not more than 7k? i'm given the impression that with the 25k mileage, i could extend the COE as if it's in a new bike condition. i saw another post of an 06 gsxr 06 at 13.8k with 117xxxkm mileage. quite a number of accessories compared to the fireblade i'm asking about, which only has an akra end can.

mileage indicates reliability, gsxr is more reliable than cbr.

cbr is like play russian roulette, no peace of mind.

every time u press the start button, will it fire or not.

hmm alright. i can't afford to full cash anyway coz a lot of reloan providers won't bother with such an old bike. gotta up the budget and get a newer bike alr. :(

I'm just suggesting how much I am wiling to pay but it may not reflect the correct market price. Pay what you think is right. However do note, sport bike usually have little market value as it become old. How much you think you can fetch if you decide to sell a year later or after COE renewal? Seldom people will look for aged sport bike even if their mileage is low.

Yes, I will consider getting a newer bike, says 1~2 yrs old. Then ride for 2~3yrs and you might get the same 9k depreciation or even less.

i understand. :) i'm looking at the 06 gsxr which i mentioned, at least i have a higher chance of getting a reloan. it's still considered an old bike rite? 6 years old. coz i guess my budget would be 15k at max. i saw a busa at an ubi shop going for 15k too. 08 probably stock. may i have your thoughts on this?

K6 GSXR1000 is still okay cause they are still one of the better 1000cc sport bike around. Old but still deadly. I doubt you can get the 08 busa at 15k. Market rate is about 18k to 20k. However busa have a strong resale value cause it has a slower face lift compared to a sport bike.
