Can you please elaborate? What do you mean by short lifespan? What bike did u run the Mobil 1 on?

means it feels rougher " broken down " after a shorter mileage than expected. E.g. Your full synthetic oil suppose to last 5000km before next change and maybe at 3000km and the oil feels like it ran for 10000 km

Ok thanks for the explanation. So can someone just point me the right direction as to whats the best/most popular brand of fully synthetics out there other than Mobil 1?

Motul, Silkolene, Maxima, Ipone.

However, do take note that not all oils that are rated fully synthetic are really FULLY synthetic. Filtered and refined good mineral oils are also added in with PAOs (the real synthetic) to market as fully syn oil. Just how much PAOs and how little viscosity index improvers are added are more important.

Silkolene Pro 4 plus has very good reviews.

Maxima extra 4 cheapest triple ester based full synthetic money can buy

$20 per litre. They also comes in 1 gallon version. Think $70+.

How's the oil? how does it compare to... say motul or silkolene top of the range ...

Never try Motul before. Too expensive in my opinion. And only tried Sikolene donkey years ago and on different bike. Totally forget how it feel. To me, I believe all established brand should have good engine protection. So the only thing I look out for are gear shifting feel and sound.

When I say shifting feel, I mean the shifting must be slick and smooth without using much force to push up the gear pedal. But this is also subjective because sometime when the bike get hotter or after a round of high rev, the shifting can become smooth again.

And as for the sound, basically is how rough or any additional funny sound which I deem adnormal. But usually not very accurate as sport bike usually sound like a sewing machine even when new. So usually I based more on shifting feel.

Personal opinion on this oil against other oil on my current bike which is a 09 Busa. My usual OCI is 8k km. So far Maxima extra is one of the better and consistence engine oil I used. The other 2 okay brand is Amsoil bike eo and Revx bike eo. Incidently all are ester based.

A short compilation,

1) Amsoil car eo (but stated safe for wet clutch) - About 5k km onwards, occasional rough shifting. But engine sound okay

2) Amsoil bike eo - Smooth until my 8k km engine oil change

2) RevX - Smooth until my 8k km engine oil change

3) Mobil 1 car eo - Occassion rough shifting but sound normal. Ditch the oil after 3k km just because it a free oil to try

4) Schaeffer - Rough shifting most of the time, engine sound louder and more raw. Ditch the oil after 500km to try the free Mobil 1

5) Maxima Extra - Smooth until my 8k km engine oil change

I'm not saying my checking method is the correct one. But that is the only way I can think of beside doing a expensive oil test. And my personal feel might differ from yours. Best is you go check it out yourselves.

Maxima extra 4 is 20++ a bottle vs motul 300v 30++ a bottle, both triple ester full syn. Depends on where you buy also. Guess its a matter of how deep your pocket goes and which shop you go too. Personally I take anything from the french. Motul, ipone etc. But maxima stuff is really good for American product. I don't believe in the yanks hahaha
