Hi

I have just bought Givi E450 rearbox with stoplight from one of the seller in SBF few weeks ago.

It seems that the stoplight is either hit or miss when it comes to its stoplight, meaning sometimes the box's stoplight wun light even when i depressed both brakes. there is no problem with the tailight as it is working normal.

Has anyone encountered similiar problem? Has anyone found a way to troubleshoot this? Thanks a lot.

Is this a removable model of box? And if so, is it the kind where there are two contact points on the box carrier that connect with two contact points on the box to carry the electricity for the brake lights?

Almost certainly this is the problem. Either the contacts become corroded or you will find that one of the sprind loaded contacts is stuck in so that it does not touch the carrier plate contacts.

A bit of WD40 and cleaning and working the contacts should do the trick. I had the same problem on a Givi E52. It turned out the contacts on the carrier plate were broken... pushed into the plastic. A new contact and all was well.

I bought the new contact point for the carrier at 219. Pop the old one out, pop the new one in. But I did also have to put WD40 on the contacts on the box itself since the springs were stiff and they didn't always push out fully.

my colleague and I just troubleshoot the problem.

He said at the locking latching mechanism did not really "eat" hence there is little to no contact between the 2 metals. He put double-tapes on the hole at the upper portion of the box so when I closed the box, it "eat" more hence contact between the metal parts and hence, lights on

hi Strong Eagle,

Thanks for the replies.

How much did you get the new contact point?

doubletapes ? u mean doublesided tapes ?

you taped the area around the 2 contact points on the upper portion of the box ?

thus when u close there would be more contact this way ? cus i know the right side of my box cannot be closed fully (just a slight gap of less den 1cm) due to the contact points.
