Every bidding cycle...

I see only average 50++ more bids than quota. By right we just need lesser 50 to buy bikes every two weeks, and all of us will have $1 COE.

Also someone should go tell the LTA that reducing 15% of bike quota every review period is NOT OK!

There will come a time bike COE will cost $10,000 or more, due to the stupid reducing formula LTA use to allocate motorcycle quota.

Every motorcyclist are **** by the formula and made to pay for the high COE unnecessary.

There is no reason to decrease Motorcycle quota.

Motorcycle seldom contributed to traffic jams.

Having COE for motorcycles is a mistake.

i agree that COE for bikes is a mistake as well.

but for cars i feel the COE can be tweaked. every valid family (valid means married couple) should be entitled to ownership of 1 car. after which they have to fight for COE. those who do not wish to utilise their ownership chance can sell it off at the COE bidding and if they want to buy in future, have to go buy it back from the bidding system.

in that way you can ensure the middle class is taken care of yet give the richer folks a chance to own 2 or more cars at their pockets' expense.

can someone from LTA do something like this, definitely more feasible than the pay and pay policy.

I do agree that motorcycles COE which are being scraped should not be allocated back to the open cat.

Since Open cat is mainly used for big cars, it's essentially to have 1 in the first place. Open cat is nice in theory. but in reality, if it goes to your Porsche or Ferrari on the road, why reclassify scraped Cat D into open cat?

Cat E should be abolished. Otherwise, use it to register cars above 3000cc instead.

However, i do not agree that motorbikes should not be allocated with COE. Coz, without COE, it essentially means there is no need to register a license to ride a bike in Singapore. And the Singapore Government doesn't want too much bikes to be traveling around in SG.

why gov dun want too many bikes in sg? if more bikes in sg.. less traffic jam eh.

the only logical reason is that we will look like Vietnam..... Vietnam's traffic is very messy because of the bike overpopulation. but we will never have a bike overpopulation happening. too many people want "face" and will buy a nice big car..

In order to project a "rich" image to foreign tourist and investors.

having too many poorly maintained bikes and cars will tarnish this image. Hence this indirect reason of why COE for 10 years is rarely known to all. If possible, all conti car is best.

does it matter?

look at what has happened at Cyprus & Iceland...

think about it. which path will Singapore take?

based on my analysis of our national pschye & culture, probably more like the route Cyprus take instead of Iceland's stance.

does the date matter anymore? i am not a prophet or fortune teller, i dunno & i don't that it even matters. 2014 or 2024? so what? as long as we continue to busy ourselves over small unimportant issues that are used to distract us from the REAL GAME...the result is not going to change.

Well it matters to your ownself. Singapore to take Cyprus stand yes it would be a probable when the bank run starts.

The national psyche or even the global psyche is something u n i cannot change so for those that wants to wake up to

become turkey dinners let them be. I aim to survive n thrive when this happens.

Well i have to agree u are not a prophet n most sinkies are just too distracted with their addiction to the government telling them what to do and believing them wholeheartedly n even wasting their time on something that is pointless like COEs etc or just complaining but not doing anything. Most think that the world will stay the same till they are 65 n they can get their measly monthly sums from their retirement accounts. How disillusioned can one be, thinking that the world will not change. Well too bad for them.

So anyway i've already given u enough hints on what is to happen so your choice to do something for yourself or not.

Cos the things that will come along will make the 2008 crisis a leisurely walk in the park. It will be epic in proportions when this happens, mark my words.

Maybe coe bidding exercise should be in person held at LTA instead of the current e-bidding?

This way, we will know for sure if there is any "mystery" bidder who bids high at the very last minute.

Thats true ,for some Just follow Only...

MOST of us aim to survive n thrive, not just follow because the "someone" sets rules and makes livehood harder for those who depend on it.

I would love to be able to do something to bring down this COE price.

Depriving the people who need a resource by bringing up the price of it is despicable.

Yes, the roads are congested. I fully agree that something has to be done about it. But certainly not by raising the price of cars/ COE such that even those who need it cannot afford it! Of course, then people will debate, "I need it more than you do". But is this the perfect solution? Raising the price? In the end, those who can afford it will have a lot, those who need it but cannot afford it will have none.

I may not need a car, or a bike. But I dare say public transport hasn't improved to the stage where I can go anywhere comfortably without having to spend a lot of time commuting. And if the day should come that public transport serves me as well as my motorbike, I gladly take the bus/MRT and save the earth some of my motorbike fumes.

What we think isn't worth a dam to the Govt.We can protest all we want but in the end,the Govt will just come up with more and more legislations that they think is beneficial to us the people.

The Govt is only looking at the problem they are currently having on their hands now. They only implements restrictions to "solve" what thy deem a problem without thinking of the people that will be affected and the impact it will have in the future because of the restrictions they've imposed now.

And with the state the public transport is now, many people are left stranded at MRT station platforms because 1. They cant afford a car 2.The public transport is to f'ed up

if what u mean by serve u as well as motorbike is the traveling time then it will never happen. but seriously public transport has gone down hill. 10years back even at non peak hours i can get a bus within 20mins waiting time. now it takes forever to get a bus. sometimes in peak hour i have to wait 30mins.

Ya. The voting booth that you are assigned to in 2016. Remember to tick the candidate that promise you that the motorcycle COE will be abolished...

Tough I'm not pro-PAP, but is there any opposition that wishes to scrap COE? I don't remember hearing any of it from them.

Until now, I haven't heard any voices in parliament talking about MOTORCYCLE coe - I felt we haven't been neglected by ALL of them.

Well either they decrease COE or increase our pay or make everything else cheap. I don't see that happening with the PAP, definately not rooting for them. Not saying that opposition will do better but PAP is bad business for the rest of us so no point keeping a blood sucking customer around. Don't forget they owe us, not we owe them.
