I don't rely on my bike's charging system nowadays, so I just buy a reliable battery charger to charge when I feel the batt power is weak. My bike's not a heavy consumer on batt's power, so I plan to charge yearly for now. Regular maintenance.

Before I started this habit my batt lasted me 4 years w/o taking it out to external charge.

Along lavander road. Yuasa.

Good if you can get a battery tender.

3-4 years if you have a healthy charging system

I would just use common sense.

No need of voltmeter and all that stuff.

1st thing is whether you have problems while starting daily?

i.e. Does the bike start in 1 crank? If not find out why it could be spark plugs, carb or battery.

Once you have a bike that starts in the 1st crank in the morning, without throttling and without choke, thats good.

Next thing is check if you leave your bike without starting for couple of days. If battery is weak then it cannot hold charge for 2 or more days, then you should change it.

To the person who said he doesnt rely on bikes charging system and does self charging once a year, I want to tell you that your bikes charging system is good, if not you have to do self charging every week and not every year, lol.

My bike charging system is still working fine actually, no problem yet, hence no need charge weekly. Weekly is good, but lazy la. :)

Go yearly just to make sure charger not spoilt, haha. Probably will be using more often when batt lifespan ending soon.

To judge how often to charge it's best one has to monitor his own bike current condition first. Simple rule - more problem charge more often, less problem charge less often. As what Pulser said - use common sense.

A few weeks ago, my bike, when i hit the start switch, i will hear a very very weak starting. Like want to move, cannot move. Then i have to sometimes turn on and off my headlights and/or move my handle bar right and left. Then sometimes same, sometimes will be stronger. But if kickstart, 1 kick can start liao. What happen? Starter motor, switch or magnetic coil again? Coil just changed last year.

i backside itchy and got one for my spark 135 when the old battery is still ok. just lazy to top up the water from time to time. it cost RM75. about SGD30. not too expensive from normal battery.

not sure how much will it cost for your bike model.
