428 just means that the diameter of the sprocket is smaller.. lighter and less weight on the axle spinning.. a 428 sprocket of 38 teeth and a 520 sprocket with the same teeth , the 520 sprocket is bigger as the teeth are larger and the space in between the teeth is oso larger.. 428 sprocket is just a flat piece of metal plate but 520 has the star shaped thingy which weigh quite alot..

Sum it up for those who are still "lost"..The sprockets thickness differs..And the thickness of the plates of the chain also differs..Both sprockets are just a piece of metal..The gap in between the teeth and the chain are the same..After wear and tear it may differ by not that much also..You don't have to be an enngineerin whiz to know these stuff..Its self explanatory..:cheeky:
