either that or it simply is the sound b4 the engine dies off.. its normal if the engine is cold... but should not happen when it is warm...

to solve that problem while starting... pull the choke and hold onto it for a few secs.. then push back in..

ya the engine was cold.. and btw is it normal for it to have an ocasional knocking sound when neutral because of a changed air-intake..

i notice that choke and 2kickstarts is required to start the bike.. also 2sounds of 'ka ka' sound is heard when starting.. any lao jiao or anyone who knows sp well can accompany me to do a thorough check on the bike..

the Primary gear(counter) and the clutch basket was loss, cheap to repair.

Don't know anything about the change intake part. But knocking sounds during idle is most probably normal due to the clutch plates, typical minor problem in every SP. Clutch in and the sound will be gone.

I not too sure but my mechnic taught me some tips when I wanna get my SP.

 

1. Rev the bike and listen to the sound. (Must not have knocking sound)
   
2. Ride the bike to test the front and rear brakes
   
3. Test the gears up and down
   
4. start the bike and leave it to warm up and check on the sound
   
5. Check any leakages (esp 2T and coolant bottles)
   
6. Check all the lightings (Signals, headlights, speedometer)
   

 

That's all i know.. You must ask the lao jiaos they know better.

if allow to test ride, can test the aligment of handle also.

-free hand ride, to test the handle balancing (be safe, nv catch by TP).

-steering cone, hard brake(front), makesure u cant hear the metal sound from steering cone.(be safe)

how fast u need to go with the free hand ride? i've tried 20-30km/h in mscp free hand but handlebar turns left.. for gears, only went to gear 2 as only in mscp.. leakage wise. i only check front fork. the rest i don't know.

Just pump and ride, don't bother about so many unnecessary issues.

Ya u rich mah ... Rich but stingy. Use Maxima chain lube and better grade petrol, but dun wanna go for any outings beyond the East side. Dotz ...

 

I even got a tracking file to see my fuel consumption and to ease off the throttle.

Wah TRACKING FILE ... Might as well use MS Excel or OpenOffice n chart it out ...

 

BTW, I use only caltex 95 and no other stations cos i got 10% discount.. Haha..

Hmm ... U have to decide whether u want performance or fuel savings bah ... Previously u posted about doing performance mods - if u want performance, FC is a necessary sacrifice. After all since u have decided on getting a sportbike, dun worry too much abt the FC lor ...

 

Another thing to add.. Didn't know after 7k rpm is super fun on a SP. Haha.. U know what i mean.. lolz

Try going even higher ... But avoid the Red Zone (efficiency may not be highest at the maximum RPM) and the White Ants (TP, ROV) ... LOL

For me on SG roads i will ride like a normal slow rider cos I have 3x accidents b4 and 2 of them almost defaced me.. So now i'm also wearing a FF and ride very slowly. My performance parts is cos i wanna get ready for tracking.. Now working to save money for suit, boots and gloves.. After that will go track le.. Anyone wanna join me? haha.. First i wanna go Tuas there try their tarmac first b4 heading to PG.
