hmm well the best to get started is to get ur bike service first..can try any scram mech.. at the same time ask him to rectify any things need to change first..like piston, pistons, powervalve or stuff lidat.. mayb can change the recitifier first.. in case spoil cdi which can cost a BOMB..

den use fully syn 2t, plus regular changin of engine oil and stuff lidat lo.. slowly build up bike lo.. like changing reeds valve to aftmarket ones and changing the exhaust system is gd enough to make the bike flies =)

as for digital meter, dun think its possible as our bike uses recifier nt battery.. for the plastics.. can get the original ones from auto-machinary at rowell road.. den get any stickers shop to do the skin..

thanks for your reply!

Halo...

What petrol do u all normally pump in? I am currently using formula 95..Will it have any side effect if i pump in 98?

when i go trail, its only 98 or v power!

go trail must enjoy ma!

however if only for road commuting, 95 is good enough...

Hey guys! Happy to say that i've just joined the family of wr2 riders! :D Just got my bike about a week ago. Ran into some problems with it here and there but overall still alright! My engine easily dies at traffic lights, so thought it's just the idling, so let ah chong from planet motors do. In e end found out the engine oil is milky in colour, coolant leaked in. So replaced the coolant seal and now it's slightly better! Still dies off easily when i just start the bike though. Still facing some small problems and hope you guys can give me some advise!

1. What's the proper way to kick-start our bikes? Kick first then throttle or throttle first then kick? I have a hard time starting my bike everytime, gotta try like 10times at least, sometimes try open throttle first, sometimes try close, sometimes use the choke.

2. Is it normal when i close throttle(while riding) the engine like takes a long time before the rev drops. Like not responsive like that, is that called throttle sticking? Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't.

3. Whenever my gears are in low rpm (be it 2nd gear, 3rd or any other gear), the engine always sounds like it's gonna die (like some 'bok bok bok' sound).

4. What are reeds and boyeseen reeds? Should I add them to my bike?

5. Is premixing 2T really better than using the pump? Currently i'm using the pump and there's abit of 2T left. And how do i 'shake' the bike if i premix?

Last but not least, thanks so much for all the help!

remember this, its most important to let a reputable mechanic who specializes in scramblers handle your bike. i learnt that the hard way. so thats something you need to know.

kickstarting the bike, its all about technique. don't throttle when kicking. you'll only end up flooding the carb. one hard kick, once it starts up, then give it a bit of gas to keep it going.

you should probably check if your throttle itself and the cables are in good condition, as well as the slide in your carb. if these don't work smoothly, may cause what you're experiencing.

either the kind of 2t you use is thick. or your powervalve is not set right.

you find reeds after the carb before it enters the bottom engine. Reed valves are check valves that restrict flow of gases to a single direction and consist of thin flexible metal or fiberglass strips fixed on one end that open and close upon changing pressures across opposite sides of the valve. its a nice upgrade to have, but not necessary.

if you already have a 2t pump on, i'd just go with it. just make sure the hose isn't choked and there's 2t constantly being fed into your engine. what i feel about premixing is that the amount of 2t that goes into your engine is not even, at times more, at other times less. don't go with cheap 2T. I recommend Motul 710, $22 a bottle. mine lasts about 1+ months. how do you shake the bike? hold the front brake, and rock it.

lastly, get on http://www.slackriders.com thats where all the dirtriders are and your chances of getting help or opinions is better there.

Which is better? motul 510 or 710? Can motul 510 even be used?
