Exhaust gas temperature is very usefull in setting up the carb... too rich = cold, too hot (danger danger) = lean...

Anyone have an idea?

I would of thought that 2T scrambler people would be into this kind of thing??

Dude, even if you knew if the bike was running lean or rich everytime you ride. Would you be tunning it full time? Baring in mind, the atmospheric conditions are regularly changing.

Getting a good mech would be more helpful. Cheers*

The carb with the setup I have is not easy to dial in. Overseas, the use of an egt is very common in aiding the fine tuning of a carb... and yes btw I will soon be able to adjust my mixture "on the fly", so richen for long periods of wot and lean for around town zooming....

The EGT is also very good at telling you when to lay off the throttle to avoid seizure...

Obviously Singapore hasn't embraced the EGT yet....

If anyone is interested in doing some reading up on this do look at the following.. they may refer to 4 stroke cars, but the principle is the same.

I can qualify that statement actually...

Singapore has embraced the EGT... but only in Cars...

Doing a Singapore google search proves this.

So Bikers.... anyone game?

you would also need O2 sensors in the exhaust system besides EGT. And all these will only work on vehicles with ECU. Since most bikes are still on carbs, check your sparkplug's tip, and some expeience and some guess works, your bike will run fine.

If you really want to get one, Defi, HKS, Blitz etc have EGT meters. Cost around $400 with sensor.

EGT's don't need an ECU... do your homework...

Yeah... the one's on sale here seem to be for the car tuners... a bit ex eh!!@@!!

Microlight users (often 2stroke) have adapted EGT's from aircraft for use... I believe ordering from westach mighn't be as expensive as sourcing locally...

I know very well how to plug chop... thanks.... I'm looking for something a little more than that!

Theres a product that measure air and fuel ratio, and the sensor is install to the exhaust header, not sure if its the same thing.
