The coe is 7k now is because the shops have backlog n they r the 1 pushing the coe up.

Hi, actually you can bid your own COE. 

I bidded my own COE when I bought my Suzuki Burgman 650 executive back in 2016. Actually it was the dealer who did the paper work for me, I just told them how much I wanted to bid and they did so accordingly.

However, interesting events followed. I told the dealer to bid $6500, knowing that the COE in the past few bidding exercises hovered between $6000 and $6400. You know what? The final price ended up at $6501! I called the dealer immediately after the bidding ended, and he said that I was unsuccessful as he bidded per my instruction, $6500, $1 less than the successful bid price. This is called faithfully following instructions without initiative. 

In the end I had to use the dealer's COE of $6501 plus $11 transfer fees and the bike became 01 transfer. 

If every buyer bid on its own COE, the price of COE is sure to go down, but many buyers can't be bothered to do it. That's at least what I think.

2016 coe is 6501 ?

i got mine after CB at 6510...at that time i was quite reluctant to pay for this price as i was thinking price will drop eventually... but seems like i was wrong...still hovering ard 7.5K (as of now) ....

I think the COE will not drop in near to medium term because of strong food delivery demand and high COE for cars. 

Yes, high COE for cars does affect the bike COE. 

I just sold my Burgman. The buyer who bought it used to drive a car, and due to poor economic climate, downgraded to bike.

Can i check : u sold when the coe price is high. i asked the shop if high coe will affect the resell value, compared to a bike w low coe....he said it does not matter... Why huh ?

Hi, my humble and with my limited knowledge is, it won't matter much. Reason being, what is the price difference between high COE and low COE? High = $7.5 k, low = $6k? 

It is about $150 per year. I would say the make and model, condition and mileage of the bike play a bigger role in the price. 

I feel that small, class 2B, common bread and butter bikes (including 2B scooters) are easier to sell, and sellers usually don't lose much as compared to big, luxurious, exotic sport or touring bikes (eg BMW RT, LT, Honda Goldwing etc) would have very limited market, the sellers usually lose hugh chunk of money when selling them.

My own experience : I bought my burgman for $26,512 (current price is about $28k due to higher ARF and COE) and sold it at $13,250, after 4 years 4 months, I lost about $3k per year, not that bad compared to bigger bikes. I put it up for sale in Nov last year, only 3 offers, I sold it in Feb.

what's the hurry to beat the red light? Even it's green light, u should slow down cos u are approaching hazardous area. u are never wrong if u still remember n follow the rules & regulations. 12points + $400 for failing to conform to red light signals.

12points + $400 allowances to the govt if u fail to conform to red light signals
