Best to check the official touch n go website, because there are new features and partnerships with merchants beyond just paying for toll. A lot of my JB trips were as passenger, 3 years ago so I didn't really handle much payments besides food (overseas debit card all the way) .

https://www.touchngo.com.my/consumer/toll/card/

Some news I saw overnight, they will waive the RM20 road charge.

https://mothership.sg/2022/03/no-roach-charge-rm20/

Grab pay not directly but you might be surprised if you are creative picking payment options, Malaysia also have grab services and if you have the grab debit card it should be able to used internationally like mastercard.

But the grab wallet is only supposed to work in your account local country. Hence use the grab card as workaround if it allows overseas transaction. You can still hire Malaysia Grab car using credit or debit card directly. Way safer than going by normal taxi because they tend to overcharge tourists a lot.

yeah.. the wavier is for 2 weeks right?

if grab car - remember to tally number plate.. I heard they use other people's number plate and overcharge upon arrival or bring you to some weird locations.. (that was pre-covid) I dunno about now.. let's see if the news on fb all pop up after border open.. LOL

1) Touch and GO card - top up just nice amount that you need (minimum amount that you can afford to "lose")

2) Based on my understanding, touch and go card cannot pay petrol.. only for borders @pinksheep - you know?

3) grabpay confirm plus chop no la..

4) No toll with cash based on my previous experience.. if no card, Tuas, ask you to go and buy.. After working hours, U-turn back home.. cuz it's unmanned.. you need someone with the card to pay on your behalf..

thanks

what's the toll charges for a return trip?

what's the mini. topup amount?

I am confused...so for motorbike....is need or no need VEP ?

Touch n go can buy from 7-11

Insurance need to buy... Like go tour like that travel insurance ?

VEP is needed for SG motorbike, TNG seem to be available in many places, as others have said, only top up what you don't mind losing. The TNG card is 10RM with no credit.

Travel insurance is needed yes, whether this is really checked at the border we'll find out soon.

I managed to have an email exchange with the VEP support team late yesterday, as others have said, all SG registered vehicles (including motorbikes) must register before crossing the border.

  • Make sure you have a printed copy of the VEP Registration Confirmation Slip that was sent to you by email
  • You can still travel across the border and JPJ will invite you to collect your RFiD at some future point in the future (use your TNG in the meantime).

Also worth calling out, from today you can buy a TNG card in Singapore - details here

Just a reminder that it takes up to 5 working days for your SG vaccination certificate to be verified via the MySejahtera app - if you've not already started completing the details i urge for patience with the app, its pretty painful!

I think you have to put the address in Malaysia you're going to? I'm unclear if vaccination status is on the app or the website, but i'll be adding both  - https://www.mysafetravel.gov.my/application

12 midnight huge crowds of people crossed causeway by foot, from SG perspective the folks say no checks done by authorities and warm welcome from JB officials.

Just scan passport and go, truly same as before.

Did anyone make it across the border at the weekend? I'm a little confused, on motorbike can we pump 95RON? I thought I'd read we can pump 95RON on a foreign bike but now not so sure? I know cars only can 97RON.

Because the 95 petrol is heavily subsidized by the Malaysian government, it cannot be purchased for foreign vehicles.

Yeah for us not worth the hassle and respecting the law is always good. Despite the fact it's the vendor supposed to enforce the rule not let drivers anyhow pick then get blamed on social media. Who wouldn't pump the super cheap petrol if no one even puts up a sign?
