by speed limiter, do you mean a device that actually prevents the car from going beyond 90kmh, instead of beeping or tripping the mileage meter like SAF vehicles?

if there was such a device they would have installed on the trucks wouldn they? TP dam hard on trucks now (and i support).

how bout a different device, one that stops their payment meter at speeds above 80 kmh? no such device yet, but cant be hard to produce coz it would be electronic, unlike a mechanical device to actually limit the vehicle's speed. this device would effectively take away the cabbies' motivation to speed. they speed because they think do faster will earn more coz can get more passengers, but wif this device, do faster actually earn nothing.

mebbe u can gather ideas, see which one(s) u like and u can email to taxi association and cc TP and LTA. i actually been thinking of this device i mentioned quite awhile back.

mine got going until 5 or 6 pages then i shoot letter up and get reply wat, how else u want the topics to 'get going'?

They can be installed with blinker lights like those on certain vans.. those vans that have a yellow light blinking on top when they go beyond 60km/hr or wat.. this light can be installed on taxis and make sure they travel below 90 or let the TP catch them.. :thumb:

Dude sometimes when a vehicles overtake a motorcycle they horn(soft tone) to warn you that he is going to overtake you to prevent accident/side swerve.Just let them pass you lor,No hram what?In a traffic jam who got the advantage? So must be flexible on the road. You give way people will give you way back. Not everytime we want to win right?

But sometimes do it very loudly not tapping. They are like tapping it few times. Thats irritating right? lol. Well, i always give taxi drivers or whatever drivers a piece of my mind if i deem necessary :)

its simply impossible

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

lol i prefer to stay away when riding; from taxis... they like to tailgate /swerve into our lanes without signaling, cut in between 2 bikes traveling at high speeds suddenly stop, etc...

But i have also seen nice taxi drivers who drive considerately... i guess its only common 4 us to generalize taxi drivers as bad (cause most of them ar) LOL

but on expressway i usually travel at 110-120km/h but ive seen a couple of taxis that still can overtake me then cut into my lane(lane 2) ... so yea lol i sometimes question whats their speed limit as well :p

maybe my krr too small/noisy/release smoke and thier ego makes them want to overtake ? limiting thier speed to 90km/h would prolly make the roads safer but i doubt lta would do it

usually wen speed limiter has been installed at big trucks, drivers wuld find a way to pull out sumtink like fuse to able them frm driving above 60 or 70kph..

as for taxis they shuld installed it. for safety purpose. sg road the highest speed limit is 90kph. really suit for taxis.. :)

Life is like a shooting star, it don't matter who you are,

If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time.. :thumb:

Then they will drive EVERYWHERE at 90km/h, even in carparks.

Speed is not the issue, its driving attitude.

limiting at 90km/h does't make the road any safer. they can still drive 90km/h on a 50km/h road, cut into your lane and e-brake infront of u to pick up passengers. Or they can drive at 90km/h on lane one of the expressway and jam up the whole expressway.

im ok wit taxi going fast...they go fast we can go fast...in front got cam snap them first then the rest slow down...if taxi limit at 90 then they take right lane n hog...no diff wit any other car road hogs out there...

cool...maybe we can get their sonata hyundai or octivia sokda designs n make it our own paint wrk..then tp disturb us we just say we bike taxis..keke..j/k..on the other hand, i doubt it's gonna change much if taxis are limited to 90km/h..it's like any vehicles, like big ones usually have 50km/h limit and whatsoever..do some of them adhere to it? not many..in the end it's up to everyone who's responsible enuf to adhere to the road safety of not only themselves & their pillions/passengers, but also responsible to other road users..

most accidents happen at road junctions so adding SWD also not very effective.

i was an army driver and i can say our speed limit 50km/h is dangerous coz it is very difficult to switch lane during heavy traffic.

So what SAF do? accident your fault go DB + strip your accumulated mileage down to 0 (less time to get civi licence=7000km). everyone scared scared drive safely.

In the end still up to the driver's own safety awareness.
