take note. i will make corrections to this post when i have some time

Important Note: I need to edit this as i've learned since posting this that i got some of it wrong. will do that soon.

i promised to do a post on the internal circuit procedures and route. here goes...

refer to this map here but ignore the yellow lines - i drew that to demonstrate the lesson 2 route:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8250/8643245593_fa17104da6_z.jpg

first thing to remember - for the circuit test there are 4 locations when you must check back left and right before moving off. every other time you move off is only check back to the right (unless you are on the right kerb for the slope, then you check back left). the four locations are - starting point as you exit the bike park, blind junction regardless if you are turning left or right, figure of 8 and crank course.

so.. you start from the bike park area marked 'start'. you make a left turn out of the bike park, then you must filter to the right lane and form up 2 lines here (single directional arrow mah). remember to check blind spot before you filter. Stop at the blind junction (marked 4 on my map). inch forward. check traffic from 5 directions, check back right and left. and make a right turn here. remember to do a blind spot check as you make the turn. after turning, filter to the left lane, remember to check your blind spot when you do that. just follow the path of the yellow line for now and filter right before turning right at the turn i marked 5. again, remember to check blind spot when you filter and once again as you turn. no no need to stop at the turning unless there is oncoming traffic.

from here proceed forward and signal right and turn right into the slope area. this is your first station. if you are the first bike there proceed straight up the slope and stop before the line at the top. if there is a bike on the slope you stop at the foot of the slope, if there is a bike on the slope and one at the foot of the slope you don't turn first, you wait. when you are approaching the slope, make sure your signal is in the direction of the kerb you are stopping at. perform your start from slope course - remember to signal and check back away from the kerb.

do not shift gear as you go up the slope, maintain half clutch until you cross the top of the slope, then allow engine braking in first gear to keep the bike moving slowly down the slope. signal left and stop before the white line. Slope complete.

from here make a left turn - remember your safety checks. follow the black line all along and don't forget to check blind spot when negotiating the bend. make a left turn at turn number 2 (remember to slow down, change gear 2 and signal left). check blind spot as you turn. proceed to form up 2 lines at the figure of 8 entrance. perform figure 8 and crank course. remember to check back left and right for both of these as you start off. remember to turn off your signal after entering the figure 8 course and turning it one again just before you exit the figure of 8 course.

from the exit of the crank course, you proceed to turn left at turn 3 (if there are bikes forming up at figure 8, you must signal right and overtake them then signal left and form up 1 line at the traffic light (if red) before turning left). remember to check blind spot for every time you filter.

after turning left, you filter right and form up two lines at the blind corner again (same as when you started out). turn right here and filter to the left lane and enter the plank course lane. form up 2 lines. perform plank and slalom and proceed to the e-brake start line. if there is a car in the lane after you exit the slalom, signal right, check blind spot and filter out to the road, then filter back left into the lane.

perform e-brake. after e-brake (remember to check back right before you put your right foot down to change gears AND check back left to put your left foot back down after changing gears), signal right exit after the double lines (if you cross the double line at the e-brake exit you will fail the whole circuit.)

after exiting e-brake you will have to turn right (there is a straight + right turn arrow on the road markings) so keep your right signal on AND CHECK BLIND SPOT AS YOU CROSS THE ARROWS ON THE ROAD. the instructor told me, the TP will keep watching you after you exit the e-brake station until you cross this arrow to see if you check or not. if no check he give you points ah!

during the actual test, you will then proceed to exit CDC and do the road part (akan datang as i haven't done). in the internal test you will keep following the main road and turn right at the bike reporting counter junction and turn right again at the blind corner to re-enter the bike park.

THE END.

For me the easiest way to remember is to remember "S8P"

Slope then go to figure of 8, after figure of 8 no choice must go crack course so no need to memorize, after that go to P for Plank, straight after plank is E-brake so no need to memorize also.

Simple.

Good idea there. I should spend my MC time at home collating all these tips and tricks :p

For assessment, form up one line at the figure 8. right?

for TP yes. for assessment there might be other lesson 3 or circuit revision bikes around. they might form up 2 lines. for those doing lesson 5 or lesson 8 form up on the right hand side if there are two rows.

Can't believe I failed my lesson 5. Accumulated all the points from blindspots and wobbling but I passed all my courses with zero points. To think that I thought I checked all the blindspots already. So disappointed :(

Ya but the thing is I don't know where I committed those mistakes!!! So infuriating....

Hmm...let me think..ok..

1) When turning out of the nursery area, make sure you check right and left before moving out. Then check right when changing to the right lane.

2) After you turn out, before the bend @ plank, check right before entering the bend. Make sure you don't brake (rear or front) when you are IN the bend.

3) Change to right lane, check right again.

4) Before turning right (no. 5 on rijac's map), check right again.

5) Now, you're ready to turn right to the slope, check right again. When you're on the slope: Check right ONLY if you're on the left, check left ONLY if you're on the right.

6) After the slope, ready to turn out, check right and left ONLY if you're on the left. Check left ONLY if you're on the right.

7) Passing the nursery area, before the zebra crossing, there's a slight bend, right? There you need to check left before entering bend.

8) Now before turning into the queue for fig. 8, check LEFT.

9) Now you are queuing for fig. 8. Before you enter the fig. 8, check both RIGHT AND LEFT. (Remember to cancel signal before the centre of the fig. 8. Turn left signal on again before exiting).

10) Now you wait for crank course. Same as fig. 8, check left and right.

11) Exiting crank course, no need to check (or check left) - Not sure about this, please ask your instructor.

12) If there's a queue for fig. 8, change lane right (check right) and change back left (check left) again.

13) If you are first bike at the traffic light, before moving off, check right AND left. If you're 2nd and above, check right ONLY.

14) Same old thing until entering plank area. Check left and signal left before entering the queue for plank.

15) Before you up the plank, check right.

16) Before slalom, check right. And before exiting the slalom/passing the 2nd last cone, check right (no need to change to lane if no cars in front)

17) Queue for E-brake, check right before moving off.

18) At E-brake; check right to put your right foot down. After shifting to gear one, check left to put left foot down (at the same time raise your right leg). Then check right again before moving off.

19) At give-way line of E-brake, check right. After you exit, there are two more bends. Check right before entering both bends.

20) Back to nursery, everything is basic (check right before moving off and check right before turning right).

Better luck next time!

Hi all,

Just enrolled in 2B and went through the theory and orientation so far. Abit impatient for the 1st lesson, seems like a long wait. Anyway this thread is rather helpful. Thanks alot!

Maybe should start a Facebook page so its more convenient and you can keep useful posts "pinned" at the top of the page. What do you guys think?

Wow! Look at the community here? Grew as fast as it could uh! @asaphjacko, WELCOME BRO! All the reading resources you need, is in this thread. Good to hear u enrolled agn!

@neowenbin aiseh, pass alrdy uh bro! Congratz dude, wait for my injuries heal, we meet up uh :)

And to the others still in the midst of 2B training, enjoy the learning process. Enjoy the YBR125 they provide, after u pass, u cfm miss riding it :p Cuz i know i do HAHAHA.

And to all riders, ride safe and be attentive. But when it's fated, it's fated. Met with a major junction accident last 2 weeks, with a really careless Singaporean lady Volvo driver. Their mistake, we suffer the pain. I must say, I'm still lucky to be alive. And no, I don't ride recklessly. Just a heads up guys, riding in Singapore, you'll meet with really REALLY shitty drivers. Before every ride, pray to your own God. Before every ride, wear your gloves, ur protective jacket, your (minimal) jeans, your shoes. I could've suffered road rash on my legs and hands, and probably body if not for my protective jacket. But on that day, it was a clear day to school, so i wore an open face and 'chapal racing' (a type of slippers Malay use during hari raya which has slightly elevated heels, making it easy to shift gears :p), and suffered light road rash on my foot and minor abrasions on my chin. From the accident, also got a broken/fractured/dislocated base of thumb, and a liver laceration(from the impact i believe). I hope my experience here will open up some of you guys' eyes to wear protective gear.

All in all, ride safe guys! Be alert. Be aware of the taxis, the lady drivers and the trailers!

Bro, how come it seems like you always accident/skid?

Sometimes just down to bad luck and at the wrong place, wrong time. Plus most of us are still new riders, we'll make mistakes. Sometimes, it's the errors of others that causes accidents.

Don't ask "How come you always accident/skid?"

Nobody wanna skid or have any mishap. (:

Of course i understand. Who wants to get in an accident?

I always ride ATGATT because of that.

I may be wrong, but i just get the impression that Nabil has gotten into alot of badluck lately.

Was wondering if these are events that we could learn to anticipate or its one of those lan lan suck thumb scenarios.

Posted

the first couple of falls were just normal new rider skids. the latest was caused by a car which came out into his path at a junction and just stopped causing him to ram into her car. truly lan lan suck thumb scenario. the learning for the rest of us is simply this - just because the traffic is in our favour doesn't mean others will follow the rules. always SCAN for potential danger ahead. similarly, lan lan suck thumb scenarios like animals running across our path or cyclists change lane without checking etc etc and we hit them are all mostly unavoidable. we all just have to be more vigilant and more defensive around these potential hazards.

Thank you rijac for making me feel better. (:

To the rest here, I skidded as well, last week, due to a dog.
