hey there...can anyone tell me how to make my fazer lower.im riding a 2008 fz6 S2.where to get the lowering link?

Hey 22022002,

- if u wana lower ur rear suspension, u can use e 'c' tool in e tool kit.

- look at ur owner's manual, follow e instruction, kinda ez 2 diy.

- e FZ6S cums wif rear shock preset at middle. (3rd marking)

- u can simply adjust it to marking no. 4.

- while adjusting, pts 2 note r ->

-- place bike on main-stand.

-- make sure chain got enough slack after u adjust e rear shock. If not, gota adjust accordingly.

-- olso careful on e side fairing/panel. If not e 'c' tool may scratch it.

- if u dunoe how 2 do it, PM mi, i can go do it 4 u. Few mins. job.

- if u wana lower ur front shock, i think its better to go motortiam, ask e mechanic 2 do for u.

- jus like e pix LollyPoP posted.

- i find it kinda difficult for FZ6S. FZ6N is easier cos without e front cowling.

- btw, u jus got ur 08 model?

- i'm riding e 08 FZ6S, hav yet 2 see another 08 model on e rd lei.

- many a time stop at traffic light, either got ppl stare at my bike or start a 'short chat' with mi.

actually, if u 'up' yr rear shock, it onli sort of harden the ride.

but if u lower the forks, u'll be actually putting yr hands lower.

i changed to a 06 FZ1 handle bar, & it did improve my handling in bends.

dun mind letting u guys have a feel during LKS session.

wanna check with bros out there. does the new FZ1 08 comes with helmet holder? (with lock).

FZ1 does not have helmet holder.

Officially, there is no helmet lock....

But i have been taught by some fellow riders here how to secure the helmet to the back seat!! Interesting but it does the job!!

Wouldnt recommend with an expensive helmet like the MHR.... but maybe with the LAB ones!!!! wahahahahhaha..... joking!! :gun: :gun: LAB Helmets Best!!!!

a picture say it all...

bro, i think what he meant is the rear shock... although, that simple mod u showed certainly helps in the handling aspect of the bike.

I have to agree with Lollypop here. It will just harden the shock and also u will not get full travel of the rear shock as the shock is pre-compressed. If it's overly pre-compressed, it'll just make the rear very hard. That C-tool is not for adjusting the height of the bike, it's actually for u to adjust the preload of the shock. By adjusting the preload adjuster it does bring down the bike a bit but at the expense of ur preload settings. If ur a heavy guy, i think u can get away with this method.. but if ur a light weight guy, i think u'll be riding on a piece of stick called suspension.

I believe preload is the most important aspect in ur suspension setting.. Too soft, it will be like riding a pogo stick.. too hard, might as well u put a stick in place of ur suspension.

anyway as what i had posted on brightside.

ok bro.. there are some options for u that is available... different options have different pricing..

1st option - you can purchase a Metisse Lowering Kit which will lower ur shock up to 1inch ( 25mm). It'll cost u around USD$175 not including shipping.. However, it's not an easy task fixing the lowering kit.

Check dis thread from FZ6-Forum.com

2nd option - Purchase a new shorter spring from Hyperpro for your shock. Check out this website from Hyperprousa

As u can see, u can drop up to 30mm, thus making ur bike lower. But u also need to lower ur fork, either thru the fork lowering kit or probably u can just lower ur fork legs by dropping an inch from ur yoke. If u don't lower ur fork, u'll have a "chopper" kinda feeling that makes cornering not a nice feeling.

mebbe u can approach Motorworld for quotations as they are the distributors for Hyperpro.

3rd option - Order a special seat by Corbin. Corbin can make your seat lower. Plus it is also very very comfortable especially for long rides once the seat has broken in. It will however cost u $439USD before shipping..

4th option ( the best if ur on a budget ) - Pay a visit to Eugene Saddlery. He will remove ur seat cover. Cut the foam to make the seat lower. Reinstall ur seat leather. So u have a lowered seat at a budget price, at least cheaper than all that is mentioned up above. Don't know how much it cost. There's someone here who did it before. Mebbe she can share with u how much and where to do it..

hope the info helps bro..

Even if we drop the fork together with the rear shock, the bike's handling will already be adversely affected. The fork's rake and trail is already changed.

There will be an impact to the handling while cornering, and also not forgetting the peg to ground clearance.

totally forgot about ground clearance.. tat could be an issue.. esp when cornering...

so i guess the best is to change the seat height thru foam cutting.. won't affect anything towards the bike except just seat height..

Hi,

With regards to your recommendation to the shop, do they have such a service to replace stock foam to gel or memory foam? If so, where are they located?

Thanks in advance

- i agree wif u olso.

- not 4geting FZ6 07 & 08 model, e weight distribution is 50 50.

- if drop e fork, e weight wil b pushed 4ward.

- stress on e fork. e riding posture wil somehow b lowered olso, jus like sports bike.

- olso e ground clearance of e exhaust header wil olso b lowered.

- if drop e fork & change e rear shock 2 a shorter preset shock, it may not affect overall rake & trail. Provided, both r lowered according 2 same measurement & very precisely.

- simply lowering e whole bike dn, e weight distribution etc wld still b e same.

- e pts dat gota consider 4 lowering both front & rear shocks r ->

-- mayb kinda difficult 2 put side-stand. Gota tilt e bike right, put stand then tilt left. e bike mayb kinda upright wif e side stand s e stand's leg length is stil e same.

-- mayb kinda difficult 2 put e main-stand. Gota use extra 'power' 2 put main-stand s e length of e stand's leg is e same wheras e wheel is now nearer 2 e underseat exhaust.

My conclusion ->

- e simpliest way 4 e rider's feet 2b nearer 2 e ground & w/o modifying any important parts dat may affect e performance is 2 cut e seat's foam.

- e best method 2 lower e bike w/o affecting e rake & trail & performance is 2 lower both e front & rear shocks 2gether.

:bounce:

Aniway, its base on my limited knowledge & singlish & personal view. Not implying wat is rite or wrong. Rather, its wats e rider preference & budget.
