Taiwan.....work or leisure?? u lucky *******!!!

I am heading that way for a free and easy sometime in November!! Any good bike shops u noticed?? Want to go there in my R&R trip..... mine will be a backpacking trip of sorts.

Should be looking forward for another eating frenzy!!! Wahahahha... again.....:dot:

Leisure my friend. Leisure. My SOP is 1 week follow tour group, let them show me around cheaply and pamper me with good food and 5-star hotels, then extend my return date and backpack the 2nd week.

Let's meet up, I can tell you more about how to get around and also where to rent a scooter here in Hualien. There're a few niggles that you have to go through, 'cause a lot of shops are reluctant to rent you a bike unless you have the right things prepared. (It will be more difficult to rent a scoot in the big city... but lemme check it out and see if there're any opportunities... :p )

In short, you'll need.

1) International Driving Permit (Apply for one at AAS)

2) Valid license for bikes or cars

3) Lie to them that you have experience driving in a LHD country (eg USA)

I can only post pics once I'm back in SG. Got no time. I'm leaving Hualien tomorrow and going down to Taitung to catch a ship to Lyudao island. Then back to Taipei on the 9th. :p

Talk when I get back K. :D

ah, didnt hear from you for a while, was wondering if there were any updates on the trip.

so confirmed on deepavali?

returning on the monday?

dont forget to stay on the correct side of the road, roc is left hand drive :)

Still on, dude. Still on. :D

Yeah. LHD indeed. But it's ok. Takes only a little while to adapt. Just hope that I don't ride the Fazer against the traffic flow when i get home! :p :D

The left turn at junction (for us it's right turn) is a bit weird for bikes. As most bikes here are scoots (and that's the bike I got)... slow bikes have to cut across the junction on the right side and position themselves in a box on the perpendicular side of the road! Taiwanese traffic rules.... weird.

But the one thing you will remember (and I mean REMEMBER) abt riding in TW is the general lack of safety and traffic sense in all the scooter riders and most drivers here. These farrkers only look in one direction... STRAIGHT AHEAD. And it's common to see a freakin' scooter granny just shoot straight out from the kerb into the traffic flow without so much as a glance in her mirrors or blindspot. Oftentimes causing the approaching vehicle to hit the brakes... hard.

Anyway, i've adapted to their style and now ride here like a regular arsehole. Just whack and zigzag like a madman between their scooter riders and terrorize them. I'm the rare scooter here who whacks past 90kph. Most of these guys trot at 50 or 60. :dozed:

Oh, and did I mention that I did a few burnouts on my rental scooter prior to returning it? One of them infront of a bubble tea store... gave the pedestrians quite the show. :p

Simi?? Go down Sat to collect? Go where? They have stock for the 9pcs? Dont all go down nothing or no stock.

All go down....how about this. Give everyone a deadline and also collect all the money first. Get them to transfer all the money to you (SGD 50 a pc).

Everyone pls leave your contact. No transfer of the money... NO order!

Let's all cooperate and help dnt with this!! The worst is to drag this on......
