Guys able to share where is the best place to mount the iu unit?

Currenty it is mounted with a bracket on mu handle bar and it's kind eye sore with one chunk on my handle bar while riding.

I can't take out completely as I need to use it.

Any ideal place for fz1?

The cleanest IU bracket install on the handle bar will be like the one I have on my bike.

Simply get a strip of metal that is hard, but still malleable. Get a bar that's about the same diameter as your handle bar, and use a vise to bend that metal strip into shape and conformity.

Measure it against your IU for the screw mounting holes and then proceed to drill. There're 4 holes on the back of the IU, you can just use 2.

Get a piece of tyre tubes and cut it to match the now circular strip and use it as an inner liner to prevent scratching of your handlebar.

Once done, the bracket is almost invisible. And the IU looks as if it's seated right on your handlebar. And it's as tight as a virgin at prom night.

Who did it? Speedway at Bukit Batok. It was an improvised job by one of the mechanics there. Simplicity at its finest. Gotta admire his creativity.

sounds quite normal to me... btw how old is your battery already?

even your bike is idling and you tries to throttle, do you notice that your headlights will becomes brighter? then when u off throttle, your headlights goes back to dimmer?

The previous owner said that he changed the battery few months ago only. So shld be a less than 6months battery. My idling is ard 910~1020rpm. The battery hit ard 13.0~13.8v when i just start my bike. After the idling is stable, the voltage drop to ard 12.6. hmm. didnt really notice the brighter or dim in my headlight when throttle. I gt a neighbour who has a fz1. His battery when idling stable was ard 13.2v. So my 12.6v is still normal.?

Check free clutch play and TPS using the buttons on the bike meter or go to shops let them check for you if dun know how to check TPS.

Past rides are already history....

Batt's V sounds OK. But if you're starting the bike and everything goes blank momentarily, then u better take it out and charge it overnight.

Happened to my batt. I ignored for one day then put it on the charger. Too late. Drained too much. Battery has been sulphated already, the charger won't work.

Heading out to get a replacement batt either today, tomorrow or weekend.

You're luckier than me. Mine's only 17 months and 32K, and it goes dead. But it's prob my fault since I was caught in a jam the other day and kept using the starter and cutting off the engine.

2 things possible. Both symptomatic of R1 engines.

1. Sticky clutch. Some R1s had a problem with the clutch grease. Apparently there was too much and it made the clutch stick to the point that it could kill the engine when engaged. The fix was to take out the entire clutch and clean off the grease by soaking in engine oil. A job for the mechanic.

Alternatively, one guy found that buy lying his bike when hot, on the right side, the EO soaked up the clutch grease.

2. TPS problem... seems less likely in your case, but anyway... Engine rpm will stumble when you're idling, and sometimes when you throttle up, it will jerk a bit at the lower range. If you shift from N to 1, it might just kill the engine.

The fix is... well... complicated. Gotta open up the tank and airbox and throttle bodies to reach the TPS. Then you gotta take it out and apply contact cleaner into the TPS itself. Must also be calibrated before and after you take it out/put it back.

Btw I'm guessing tat the new batt needs charging before usage coz it shows only 10.8v on the multimeter. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.
