Hi guys,

would like to seek your advice on the matter of FZ1 exhaust slip-ons.

Been riding the FZ1 for 4 years or so, thought of changing the stock exhaust for something which is lighter and more importantly, sounds nicer.

Plan to leave the DB killer/ sound baffle as it is so that the neighbours won't be disturbed and the LTA/ TP wont disturb me. :D

I guess for a slip-on, there is no need to tune the bike since the impact on power delivery is probably insignificant?

Anyone knows what's the price of the various road legal slip-ons? Which one will be the "best" value/ buy in your opinion?

Used to have a Scorpion on my previous FZS1000, looks and sounds good and featherweight compared to the stock crap.

Please advise.

Cheers.

Hi Fazer bros,

After downgrading myself from R1 to X1R for 6 years, finally decided to go find back to the feel of a class 2 bike.

Got myself a fazer FZ6-S2 registered 2009, week before last.

My bike doesn't come with any box which makes my life miserable for the past 2 weeks.

Planning to get side box which I feel best fit this model.

Made a trip down to MAH (Givi point) today and found out that a new set of Givi V35N cost over a thousand dollar.

Any brother out there selling off their side box soon?

Please PM me. Thank you.

Have you had a 2nd thought of being a biker...????

Yes.

GIVI V35N Side panniers are $600 for a pair, rack cost about $450

GIVI Top box is $300 to $450, rack cost about $350

HnB 30L Side panniers are $650 for a pair, rack cost about $450

HnB Top box is similar to GIVI

Found a lobang today, second hand HnB 40L side panniers $450 + new rack $450 = $900

But I personally think that 40L are too big for me especially I need my bike for daily work use.

Personally, i'm using the givi. Nice fit for my agv ff helmet n i commute to work daily on it. Fits my bag, rain coat n helmet. So everywhere i go i do not need to lug those things....n oso just nice to go through traffic.

Was told by the bike shop that I should only blow throttle/ride off after the temp hits 70 deg c. Is this true? If not, what is the correct temp to hit before riding off?

Thanks in advance for sharing!

Blow throttle yes. Not to be done before the oil is warmed up. Can't ride before 70 C. What's the reason..? I might have asked him to go fly kite.. There's a reason why your idling speed is higher during cold starts and that's to help bring up the engine fluids temperature..

During a cold start in the morning, just start the bike and ride off, keeping your engine speed low as the oil is still cold and thick and sunk to the bottom of the sump while you were parking it, this means that some parts of the engine doesn't have enough oil to help lubricate the parts should you start to rev the crap out of it during cold pull always. Plus, you do have a oil pressure warning light. Don't ride only if that light stays on after you've started the engine.

Reminds me of an old mechanic, when I changed my cams on my zee, I was looking at him do and looked at the instruction manual. It says not to rev the engine immediately after installation but to wait for the oil to warm up. Well as those who think they're smarter than manuals, he installed everything back and started the bike and straightaway revved the crap out of my engine to the red line. Thank goodness that dude is out of business and I sold my bike to a cunning bike shop already.

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Thanks for the deep insight! Appreciate it alot. Dunno why the shop said must wait till 70 C...

So from your post, am I correct to say that instead of the "magical" 70 C, I should wait till the idling is down to normal and then can ride off? At the moment, it seems senseless and a waste of petrol and time waiting for temp to hit 70 C (takes quite awhile). From my observation, idling gets to normal level at around 60 C and should be good enough to ride off. Especially if its not a cold start, I don't get why have to wait till it hits 70 C.

No problem just trying to help. No need to. I just ride off normally in the morning.Keeping rpms low until the oil is warmed up. It's just like your muscles. You don't expect to wake up in the middle of the night and then do 100 meters sprint and then swim and then cycle ma. Same with the bike lo.

What bike were you riding previously anyway?
