Okaes.. Heres there story of me and my charging problem.. *Few days back, my bike seems to feel a little weird.. The headlight starts to dim and the starter seems to have a difficult time to crank the engine.. So i did a few test with my multimeter.. Everything seems fine except to a fairly large voltage drop at load.. This morning, the bike starts to show signs of voltage loss.. Everything seems to dim.. Initially, i thought it was a battery problem.. So i took my multi meter and did multiple test... Found out that my rectifier went bad.. Was thinking of using gaban rectifier when it arrive but i dont feel good.. So i came up with a project to look for replacement rectifier and found honda rectifier.. Went ahboy to get the rectifier for 50 bucks.. Kinda ex.. And bought the socket for 10 bucks.. And this is what happen..

I cut away the stock wiring and fit the new socket and rewire it to have better charging..

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/malex_sky/fa67cbaf.jpg

Then i fit it with the new rectifier..

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/malex_sky/94f2ee06.jpg

I solder everything and test its connection.. Wanted to test the wire resistant but my cheapo 20 dollar mutli meter went bad.. Arghhhh.. Need to invest on a fluke multi meter which cost about 130 bucks..

Fire up the bike and everything feels good.. My digital meter lights went bright.. The rectifier is definitely working..

So the moral of the project here.. Volt meter is actually quite important.. Those who think that volt meter is just a cosmetic mods, i hope i dont see your bike on a tow truck.. Im lucky that i can feel something was wrong.. For those who is wondering what rectifier i used, this is the box,

Its an Oem honda cb400 superfour rectifier.. Since ive change the socket.. I wont need to find hyosung rectifier if in any case the rectifier went bad again.. Most shop should have cb400 rectifier.. Just plug it in and good to go again..

I dont think i would want to fit s4 exhaust even if its 3kg lighter.. Cos my project is all about modding without having trouble with the law.. Now my mods is focusing more on weight reduction to increase the acceleration.. Thinking of using lipo batteries.. Which is 4kg lighter than stock..

my rectifier n fuel filter arrived? we can use cb400 rectifier? i wonder how long it can last. hope it doesnt fry the batt in the long run. need to get a new batt at aboi. then replace the old fuel filter, rectifier/regulator & batt with new ones. after that, on with the monoshock suspension.

Road trip to Gunung Ledang Waterfall and Melaka 8-9 Jan(Sat & Sun) 2011

Total Distance will be covering: approx 450km

Speed: 90-100km/h

Stop at every 70km to rest.

Time to meet: 7am onwards (Please don’t be late)

Attire/gear: Safety gear is mostly recommended

Make sure your bikes are maintained.

Dun forget to bring along your road tax and other necessary doc just in case, theres a road block.

Acommodation/stay: we will be booking a large Suite at Everly Resort, Melaka.

More info: http://www.malacca.ws/everly/ or type Everly resort on Yahoo or Google.

Cost: RM1500, confirmed. The reason for booking the suite, so that all of us will be staying under one roof. The girls will surely have their own rooms.

** We will book upon arrival. if theres is no room available on that hotel, we will look for another. **

When traveling on the NS highway in groups, always keep a safe distance between bikes and keep a single line formation.

Route plan:

8 Jan – 7am meetup at Esso Woodlands. Move off at 7.30 to Woodlands checkpoint. I prefer to have your money changed before going in JB. Have breakfast, and move on to the highway.

First stop is Machap RSA. Rest for 15-20 mins and continue on to Pagoh RSA and rest. From there, head to and exit Tangkak, onwards to gunung Ledang.

Once there, we will spent like 2hrs or so. After that, continue on to the highway and exit Ayer Keroh, reaching the hotel in the afternoon. Hopefully before 5pm.

Check in our stuff and OTOT until next morning.

9 Jan – morning, preferably . check out around 9-10am, not later. We will come back to Singapore via 2nd Link.. We will reach Gelang Patah around 5pm.

Any questions or suggestions are open.

Situations might change on the trip itself. So be mindful.

1) Gaban – SGD 65 (for hotel accommodations only)

2) Phantom Hellfire and wife – SGD 65 x 2

Gaban.. This festive season everybody is mailing things in and out.. Im still waiting for the shipment.. As for the rectifier, most or all rectifier works the same way.. Converts alternating current to direct current through a series of diode.. Thus the name rectifier.. Then it is regulated around 14v for charging the battery and supply.. Thus the name regulator/rectifier.. In fact the cb400 Rectifier is better than hyosung rectifier.. Cb400 rectifier if im not wrong can provide up to 280w.. Hyosung is merely 100 plus.. Which means to supply more than required will definitely fry up the rectifier.. As for battery, we are using same battery as superfour.. Actually we can use any automotive battery as long as its 12.5v battery and have enough juice to start the engine..

By the way, riding formation must not be a straight line.. This is very dangerous as many times the rear bike would crash into the front rider.. Staggered formation please..

staggered formation only applies in sg roads. as from my exp in MY highways, especially bikes who are running 100km/h or below, better ride on a straight line or at least a little staggered would do on the road shoulder. even the left lane(not the shoulder lane) most vehicles are running at least 110-120km/h.

You have highway experience... I have highway crash experience.. Thats why i prefer staggered like most people do.. In single straight line, dare devil tends to share our lanes by squeezing in between.. I think this explains the recent crash.. Cheers..
