next time then i guess. just now after washing my bike, hard to start my bike. maybe its because wet cos last time raining also quite hard? got the crank sound budden when start, must maintain rev for a while if not, engine will die by itself. other than that, last time i've read here that getting to neutral is very very hard! thats y when approaching junction while moving, i will change to neutral b4 stopping. getting to neutral when bike is stationery seems impossible. last time like play with clutch or move a few cm can liao but now, quite hard. only way is to switch off then switch back on ignition then can. sorry very long post. haha

haha. neutral i can get it pretty easily with my bike. needs some practice. i'll kick up lightly and let go clutch to the biting point. once bike inch forward or slightly move abit, the gear will jump to neutral already. you can try. but i dont know does that apply to all comets or not haha. :cheeky:

When i got my comet, i remember i can kick to neutral when stationary.

After some time, I cant do it anymore.. dun noe why.. Got to inch slightly forward then kick to neutral..

Now, i dun even try kick neutral when stationary...i always inch forward then kick neutral.. use to it.. :)

haha thanks guys. gotta try it.:thumb:

Just received this in my email which i send out to some overseas dealer about the sprocket and chain issues..

"according to our data, a 2004 Comet GT125 should run a 14 tooth front & 52 tooth rear sprocket with a 428 chain. However, sprocket sizes can vary from

country to country on the same model bike. Our data is for the UK spec model.

We would suggest that a 520 chain is bit big & heavy for a 125."

Mine is now running on a 13T front and 45T rear. with a 520 O ring chain.

Eh... anyone noes the specs of theirs?

haha i dont know man. got it online. possibly some graphic geek drew it. and yes the tail is very nice. if can custom mod mine to this i dont mind.

actually i believe it can be done. as long as you have the $$$$.. haha.

but for the above bike i rather the head fairing to be bigger and whole like this one.

Found the wording "JTR853-45" on my rear sprocket. Seems like this sprocket was also use for some Yamaha scrambler of 1982..

Guess the previous owner wanted to have higher top speed by changing it to a small rear sprocket.. search from webby(courtesy of wemoto)

comet stock ratio with 14T 52T is 3.71

mine with 13T 45T is 3.46

Actually, I got no idea what this numbers mean.. :cheeky: but extract from the webby,

Lowering the ratio increases top end speed - Increasing the ratio increases acceleration and bottom end power.

Think i better dun anyhow change to 52T.. wait my chain cannot fit then i die..

haha. the numbers are easy, same logic as the gears when riding a bicycle.

for eg,

lower gear ratio = tighter gear (bike derailer shifts chain at gear with less teeth) while riding a bicycle, starting from a stop can be slow and tiring but when u get the speed you can go pretty fast, hence the greater top end speed.

higher ratio = loose gear (chain at bigger spocket), you can paddle faster and get better acceleration but very low top speed.

so mattman, your bike with smaller rear spockets i think acceleration will be slower but you got better top speed dude. can race on highway already haha :cheeky:

and yah la dont anyhow change. i think if ure comfortable with ur bike's settings now just keep it that way. save money, save trouble.
