Go earn some $$, get disciplined with some savings before you even consider getting a bike, else you are almost guaranteed financial ruin.

If you can pay installments $500 $600 one shot, then may I suggest you hold back for 3 months, save those installments, then downpay $1500 $1800 at one shot.

You incur less interest, and maybe a shorter loan period.

Don't be a fool and take a loan on the road tax and insurance. They last you only for one year.... but you'll be paying for it with interest over the course of your entire loan.

But then again, the money is yours to burn. :goodluck:

Yes, there are MANY bike shop that do zero downpayment. With your $500 dollars, you will be able to get a second hand bike easily, many model to chose from.

You can buy NTUC insurance with installment too, so no problem.

Don't worry about what others are 'advising' you to control money or save money first.

Many of these people are writing with good intention, but they do not understand your strong desire to die die own a bike.

You can get a RXZ/YZ125/Wave/SP easily with only $500. Everything will be on installment. Just remember to bring along your parents/friends who has a stable income to be your garantor(this is a very important criteria). Most motorshop will be 100% welcoming you to be their bike customer!!

Even if you got tons of money in your bank, but still you wish to pay by installment, all shops will ask you for a garantor. Its the standard way of doing business in Singapore. So you cannot blame anyone if you cannot get a garantor when you want to buy your dream bike.

Correct me if i'm wrong but what is the point in die die owning a bike and getting yourself in a financial fix?

I find it amusing that the thread starter can afford high installments but cannot afford to give a downpayment of 500-800. How high is high? 100? 200? 400?

How much can he afford for other maintainence costs? Insurance is gonna cost way much more than he expects. The costs will bear down on you so hard you wished you never even thought of buying the bike.

My advice to the threadstarter, keep your money, whatever amount you can save, save it. Make sure you have enough savings for emergency purposes before you even think of buying a bike.

This can't be right.

I don't have tons of $$ in my bank, but I have a stable monthly income with CPF contributions (hence I can prove my income to motordiams)

I have NEVER been asked to produce a guarantor for the bike loans I have taken thus far, even the recent bike loan I have taken for a 5-figure sum.

Mate, your financial planning mentality will get you into dire financial trouble faster than a Hayabusa can reach 100km/h.

The reason why many people "die" when they lose their jobs is because of living their lives on credit. House, car, furniture, renovation, all on instalment.

We fully understand the strong desires to own a bike. But we are also fully aware that desiring something does not mean needing that thing. Especially so when the threadstarter can't even fork out a few hundred dollars upfront.

So please, refrain from giving bad financial planning advice to others.

Yeah thats wat I did when I got my blade two years ago

I find it stupid to pay interest for five years for my insurance and road tax which only last me for a year

Sure its just about $10 difference a month but if you were to multiply by 60 mths :giddy:

Thats when I decided to do seperate payments for my insurance and road tax

Reply to threadstarter's topic ah.

No need to give advices. That's not what he wants.

No money better don't buy.

There's only 1 conclusion if you are still so stubborn.

If you get the bike now, few months down the road you will definitely face problems with paying the installments, and after that you will be desperate to sell the bike, just to pay off your bike debts.

Don't say you don't mind the high monthly installments.

Once you snowball the installments, you will face financial problems.

But end of the day, it's still your call.

college ? Junior college ?

Arent you susposed to enlist into National service soon if you had just graduated from junior college ?

and mind you, being fresh doesnt mean that you have the financial ability to afford a bike. Especially when you still cant afford the Dp yet.

in future you MIGHT encounter bike problems and summons. All these will add on to your burden especially with your income.

PLs do think twice, if u had graduated from college i believe you have the ability to think for yourself the consequences.

y not save a few months. since 500-800 is not an issue for you then save 5 months = 2500 to 4000 dollars can buy the bike full cash.
