I'm getting mixed advices on how to start a bike without wearing out the starter carbon too fast.

1) Crank and hold it there till the bike has started

2) Intermediate Cranking

Which one should be the correct way?

frm the advice given to me back in my army mechanic days, it is not recommended to crank continuously

supposed to follow method 2 as stated above with some amount of rest before each crank

:cheeky:

dont ask me whats the optimum amount of rest required though :p

Just press the button once, leave it for a few seconds before pressing the magic button again. Don't press continuously as it might damage not just the starter motor, it might also drain the battery away and damage the engine.

i was taught to crank + throttle.crank until e motor starts.however if aft cranking 8-10sec n bike still cant start, stop n rest. reason 4 holding it is bcos very time when we crank, it will drain 10-15W from our batt.

tats wat i noe.correct me if i m wrong.

Just replace the starter carbon or the entire starter motor unit.

Don't spend sleepless nights over this issue, not worth it.

How much does it cost respectively? For a honda cbf 150 bike then.

Crank and stop and wait after 3-5 times. The starter can get burnt out if you crank and crank. It gets hot fast because its a very high power small electric motor. Imagine the power of your foot you use to kickstart in a tiny motor about the size of a phone charger. You press too many times your battery also will go flat. Then really sian because CBF150 no kickstart so must push start.
