Conclusion? Get a helmet that is both SNELL and PSB approved.

There may be not enough choice. Even if you manage to find a helmet of necessary type (fullface, flip-up or off-road) and size does not mean that it will fit your head, because a head shape is important. When there is a choice of vendors, then there is a good chance that anybody can find a helmet suitable for his head. But the presence of a few (Arai and Nolan - any more?) does not guarantee this.

The Snell Foundation has been around for 50 years, since 1957. Experience comes with time. A subject matter expert is not made overnight. And the Snell Foundation deals with nothing but headgear protection. You don't see their stickers on other household items... do you??

How long has PSB been around? They seem to be subject matter experts for just about everything. Basically a Jack of all trades and a master on none.

I just wonder what kind of stringent tests does PSB set for helmets to meet their requirements before they stick on their cheap and good tin foil (read as easily faded, peeled off) sticker? So no class.

See attached link for more info on the Snell Foundation. Expand your knowledge and mind then decide for yourself.

Thank you for expanding my knowledge and mind. Having owned 3 Snell certified helmets myself (including the one in the picture), and having read the material that Arai supplies with their helmets, I've become a little bit more aware of what Snell certification means.

I've also become aware 2 years ago that there's an alternative view on why Snell certified does not necessarily better. May I invite you to expand your knowledge and mind, if you will, here:

PSB tests helmets to SS 9:1992. What that is would best be explained by PSB or SPRING. I don't believe SS 9:1992 proclaims to be exceeding safe; it merely says that it's safe enough for the conditions that the test has subjected the helmet to - and that won't mean race conditions. Perhaps like an older version of ECE 22.05.

Thanks for the info. It proves that one can always learn something new everyday if one chooses to seek knowledge.
