wow so ex??

was thinking to service my shock more worth or buy new or 2nd??

not worth to rebuild.

I once rebuild my super 4's rear shock, it is good for a year then it starts to leak again....

it is advisable to buy a good one and use it for long long time.

anbyway, i'm looking for xr200, anyone got lobang?

honestly i never seen anybody that rebuilt their stock rear shock have any good reviews... its better to buy a 2nd hand unit, n if u really plan to keep the bike for a long period, u'll never go wrong with ohlins.

i cannot find any after market 2nd shock..........

i find ebay got only original used one .......... duno good or not?

or any cheap and good brand to recommend??

hmm..IMHO if you're gonna buy a 2nd hand OEM rear shock...will be cheaper to rebuild your current one. wad if you receive the 2nd hand shock and find out that you need to rebuild it anyway? most online sellers of 2nd hand items as "as is", so there're no warranties.

if you're gonna ride this bike long term, better to get something new and good for it. will last too.

hey guys, im riding a 929, hope dont mind posting here and give me a hand if possible...

got a worrying problem with my bike; symptoms as follows:

1) for the past few weeks, every time i rev past 7k rpm, the FI light will turn on... so i didn't do that till today. previously, i'll just stop my bike by the shoulder, turn on and off then no problem

2) was in the need for speed mood today, so rev past 7k rpm and the light came on again, did the same thing; stop by the roadside, turn on and off

3) this time got problem

- i turn on the bike only got tickticktick sound coming from underneath the engine

- the FI light is on and did not go off

- only manage to ride in 2nd gear max, i believe this is some kind of safety mechanism

i very worried now... alot of family problems ($$$), road tax/inspection coming up in 2 wks and now my trusty steed do this to me sigh... luck never comes consecutively, bad things happen in series.

anyway, do you guys have any idea what is wrong and roughly how much it will cost?

thanks in advance...

hi guys, i just learnt from a soccer buddy that you can run diagnostics by putting the sidestand down after stopping and getting in neutral.

so here's the code that popped out: 3 long blinks and 5 short blinks.

can someone check their blackbird manuals and perhaps give me a description of the exact code?

i know im riding a 929 and perhaps it'll be different, but just in case the 929 fellas dont reply, i can get some sort of reference.

thanks in advance!!!!

like wat bro LinW said is correct, either rebuild it rather than buy a 2nd hand unit... or buy new one lor... dun forget in the US, this bike is quite a popular stunt bike...

yup... juz trying to put my history to rest... its not easy, but at least i'm kinda enjoying the power of the 954 whenever i'm in malacca. power wise i guess its quite the same as a CBR1k after i blueprinted the engine. :D

i did blueprint my CBR9 too when i did a top overhaul job, but the difference was not so fantastic.. the fuelling in FI bikes, if really sorted out.. power is very very potent yet smooth at high revs.

after intake/exhaust ports are being blueprinted:

carb bikes : smooth at bottom end; top end vibrates more due to lack of fueling accuracy unless drop in a FCR to give more fuel at the topend (sacrifice the bottom end)

EFI bikes : more vibration when neutral gear, but a very smooth n screaming top end.

btw Sev, how's the feel when going fast offroad ? kinda need to know whether the feeling is great or not... the fun & adrenaline factor... cos i really have some plans to buy a XR4 or DRZ maybe next year.. (still considering motocross or motards)... at least crash the bike, it has lesser fairings to replace; wear n tear parts are cheaper too compared to a sbk.. hehe..

FI light error, u should check out the EFI unit; intake ports; air filter; fuel lines/fuel pump; chances are either one is blocked or faulty.

tick-tick-tick sound, how much is your bike's mileage and when was the last time u did ur valve clearance ? wat about engine oil change intervals, how many KMs travelled before u change it ?

if your bike has really high mileage, eg 99999km on odometer and still counting, should be the timing chain (if the sound comes from the right hand side of the engine)

if it comes directly from the bottom of the engine; might be valve clearance problem. need to know when was ur last valve clearance done before i say anything incorrect...

btw, i think to solve ur bike problem wont be that cheap... kinda sounds expensive to me if u really want a good job done and for the bike to last u another 6-7 years.

you riding 954 now?

good bike man!

dirt riding is very different from speed riding. i just started, so still riding slowly.

it is fun, especially the sand part. the bike is power sliding everywhere (even a small 200cc bike!). just hold the throttle and whack it, that's the best part!

you can't do it on any superbike unless you're a damn good rider and on a proper track. (if you crash during power slide, most probably it is a high side, but on dirt bike you just low side and most of the time nothing will happen!)

much more safer than riding big bike, but the fun factor is there. highly recommended.

oh ya, the jump on dirt bike is fun too, but i can't do jump yet, i bet it must be damn shiok when i able to do so.

buy an offroad bike, and keep a spare motard wheel, best for both worlds. :cheer:
