IU is mounted on a small bracket and held in place by the left hand fork clamp bolt in the top yoke.

Yamaha Agent mounted it there, bike was from new.

Hello.

I bought a Maxton NR4 rear shock from the UK and had it installed here.

Transformed the handling once I got the preload right. Damping was set at the factory during the build and I haven't had the need to adjust it (not so easy to get into the adjuster either). The shock is not the remote damping adjuster type.

Price was about $900 something + delivery + GST.

Total came to about 1100 including fitting.

You can buy Ohlins here, I had an offer by HKL Racing at Bukit Merah but they didn't have the exact unit in stock at the time. Price was slightly cheaper for the Ohlins.

Best mod I have made to the bike - along with the Akra exhaust

Hi all MT09 owners. I am caught in between owning a MT09 and CB1000R. Both are great bikes.

I would like to understand whether there are any issues you had for MT09. Any rust issues? Or any major issues? I've read about the CCT problems. Have you encountered it? What is the FC like?

Looking forward to your replies. Thanks.

Hi.

I have my MT-09 a year now, 12,000km done.

No issues with CCT.

No other issues with anything else, apart from trying to keep the points off my driving license ;)

No rust, the build quality is good (I ride in all weather rain or shine).

Fuel Consumption is quite good if taking it steady but drinks a bit when pushed (like most bikes I guess).

Great bike, I changed the poor rear shock and bike has an Akra exhaust from Yamaha.

CPU was also reflashed free by Yamaha and it has made the bike more ride-able in Standard mode.

Personally I wouldn't entertain a 1000 Sports Bike in Singapore, the MT is great though.

Go for it.

Thanks for your review on MT. Really appreciate it. I just saw a MT09 on the road this morning. It is equipped with the original exhaust. It sounded so silent. Also, i have MT09 with Akra parked at the carpark at my workplace. And it sounded just a little louder compared to the original. Not sure if it is worth upgrading to Akra if i decided to get a MT.

I haven't experienced my bike with the standard exhaust on.

I asked Hong Leong to install it before I collected it after buying it.

Nice sound and imposes your presence on the road.

That's a really nice bike.

Don't like the rear light though.

The RD-LC style is also really cool.

Hey everyone,

I just changed up my suspension to Ohlins, front fork cartridge and rear shock. Not sure why anyone here would want it, but posting anyway: I'd like to sell my stock parts.

Less than 9 months old. Excellent condition. Rear shock exposed to elements so not showroom condition, obviously.

Perhaps you know a friend who could use the rear shock, for a smaller bike or something? Not sure pricing yet, but will discuss with buyer.

Thanks!

Hello Mike.

Nice one with the full suspension change, well done.

I have also changed the rear shock (Maxton NR4) but not bothered doing anything about the Forks - apart from maximum rebound damping and 80% of full preload. The rear shock change really changed the bikes ride, harder spring and well damped.

Have you noticed a big difference with the the Front?

Where did you have the work done in Singapore and how long did it take?

Good luck on selling the stock parts, I think you may need it.

Cheers

I use the bike for commuting only, nothing else, so not really sure that the new fork internals is really worth it for what I am using the bike for.
