This is my first time buying a bike for transportation purposes.

Can anyone recommend a bike that is value for its money? I'm looking for a new bike with good performance and can last me as long as possible.

So far, I have noticed 3 bikes:

1) Varadero XL125

2) Phantom TA200

3) Aprilla Tuono 125

Anyone has any issues while using the bikes above? How much does the maintenance fees of these bikes cost? What should I look out for in a bike that I'm going to purchase?

My friend use Phantom TA200, he say that very difficult to u turn, need to polish chrome parts or not will rust but he really like the looks of phantom.

If u only looking for transport, there are still other bikes out there that u can add to ur list.

For the 2 other models u mention, i am not very sure about them :sorry:

I heard from my friend that this Phantom has more problems as compare to the earlier model of 150cc.

I also found out that Phantom comes with clutch, and I haven't touch a bike since I got my license 2 yrs ago.

I'm looking for a tubeless, clutchless bike.

Do anyone knows whether the bike shops open on holidays and weekends?

You can rule out the Tuono and the Vara.

A 200cc scooter would be your best bet. Would a price tag of around $4000 & up be within your budget?

Bike shops open on sat.

Can call them to ask their operating hours and stuffs.

If u looking for clutchless, find spark/x1 auto clutch or wave or a scooter.

Run a search on African Twin in the Garage Sale Section. Its the largest 2B bike. With mounted side box or saddlebags it almost fools others into thinking it is a class 2 bike. Until you move off lah. Scrambler is also a tall enough and you'll look good on it.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

lots of 200cc scramblers around... xr200, dr200, wr200, ktm200. you might need to work on the suspension a bit if you're that heavy, but with your height a scram would be a very natural choice (gilera runner is also quite a tallish bike). if you get a phantom it might be rather weird because it's quite a low bike.

the wr and ktm are 2-stroke bikes, and taller... the xr and dr are 4-stroke bikes and shorter.

take your time and find out more, or even take some test rides, before buying :)
