Probably can work out a bulk purchase. But do drop a call to the shop first.

Aye Adrian, looks like its just you and me...

The response seems quite bad. Maybe all going Sepang to see Motogp...

BTW, what are you looking for in this ride?

Better to ask now rather than disappointment if you can't find what you're looking for.

Hope you guys enjoy your trip up North.

Anyway I have a question for fellow SV riders who ride their bike on the track (or very aggressively on quiet twisty roads). How does your front end feel when you first turn into the corner and when you accelerate out? Does it resist your steering input? My SV seemed to resist when I pushed it into the corner, but when I pushed harder it suddenly leaned over very quickly and I almost scrapped my knee on the road. I checked that my steering head and bearings are fine.

Can any more experienced rider share your views and experience please? Thanks in advance!

I am not that sensitive to these conditions as I don't do hard corner anymore... SV650 is a bike for posing only

You check your Wheel bearing? wheel bearing does affect the steering especially at high speed... How about changing to some after market fork spring to increase the control on the bike?

crappy incident:

Anyway I just change my fork seal recently and RECENTLY it soak up a large pot hole at 120km/h... :giddy: I can feel the fork diving right up to the end! and Crap, it started leaking on one side...

While at motorworld I got a reccomendation to go Bike Lab (before Mah Motor) to get a fork job done... will cost $120. Worth it? :help:

Rhema:

Tyre profile affects the ease of tipping the bike into corners. Different manufacturers use different profiles for the crown of the tyre (The curved cross section)

The higher the curvature, the sharper the tyre profile, and the more quickly it tips into corners and changes direction. However, that means when the bike is upright, the rubber contact patch is smaller and traction is less. The bike also feels more frisky and unstable at high speeds in a straight line.

Conversely, the lower the curvature, the more stable the tyre is in a straight line. Rate of tyre wear is also reduced. However, the bike resists turning into corners and has the feeling of suddenly falling into corners once the the critical point of lean is reached. Worn tyres and commuter/sport touring tyres tend to display this kind of profile.

Suspension affects how the bike reacts to throttle when leaned over.

When I tackle twisties, the bike has this tendency to want to right itself, which often throws a spanner in the works whenever I brake late, have to bank quickly and find that the bike doesn't respond as quickly as my friend's fireblade when I go for a spin on that.

I've been working on a particular technique that combines counter steering and weight shifting....the latter then former in that sequence...but the timing must be precise la. I've managed to do it twice and get much quicker rolling responses but still not ingrained into my brain so when it comes to corners where I don't have time to plan ahead I slip back to my old formula...

I don't get the 'sudden' dipping problem...been down till I scraped my pegs but never experienced it before...

btw I'm using 120/60 and 160/60 tyres.

If twisties are what you looking for, this is the trip for you. The curves are better than those you'll find at PG. But always some durian husks or goats lurking at blind areas...

Not many open areas to blast tho.

Thanks for your input. That's exactly how I feel - not easy to push it into the corner. Maybe I felt the resistance and then pushed too hard. I will try it again tomorrow. The last time I went to hit the twisties, I shifted my weight as I started pushing on the bars. But I didn't dare to hang off too much since the road wasn't all clear, and I wasn't wearing riding pants.

I guess I have to try it again. I better wear full suit just in case... I am also planning to get the Suburban Machinery low bars for the SV. I still prefer the unfaired version due to ease of DIY maintenance. (I do almost everything DIY since labor is hell expensive. I was charged almost USD250 for full service!)

SV650 you can still find some around, SV1000 there's 1 in Looi's... SV4 unless owner sell them, I think no bkeshop has them. Also no bikeshop wants them. Bikeshop are afraid of Suzuki bikes... :sian: that's why Suzuki resale value are crappy! Keep your eye open you might find one of these rare juwel...

Funny things I realised, most bikers who saw my bike will agree that it is a nice bike... but how come the market responds of SVS during debute is crappy... Even for it's 1-ltr series?

Another few year when I my SV650S COE ends, and if SV1KS in looi's still there... I might just buy it!

think they stopped importing to sg in 2000.

pros: best looking 2A bike (in my opinion, tied with monster 400), unique, torquey

cons: not exactly the most reliable bike in the market, low resale, as LimSteel pointed out

well, mine water got into carbs before. Think a few others had eletrical problems. And the front cylinder problems.

You always go to guan hoe for everything? Maybe I should go there too :cheeky:

I only had these burnt once.

1. Rectifier

2. Speedo Sensor

3. Fuel Gauge, didn't bother to fix

All these stuff are all wear and tear, machiam changing tire. My clutch plates are probably next. Compared to other makes and models, I considered my bike very reliable... My friend's CBR400 gets towed once every year.

I don't go Guan Hoe for everything, only if I need to change OEM parts.

I had my carbs serviced by Ah San, but honestly speaking, no need to service.

Engine oil any shop can change...

You can go there, but 400cc is parallel import, agent may not have the parts. Some of the engine parts are different from 650.

I am now reading the prevoius threads, then came across the news that SV400 now not imported to Singapore due to restriction problem (really?).

Anyone, has anyone ever seen a dual front disc SV400 here? Remember seeing someone mention about a FU SV400S, that should be after year 2000, so should have dual disc brake...

Another thing is: no naked SV400 here - totally no fairing one? Quite chio leh.

Restriction problem? More like a sales problem. They're not even bringing in the new 650. Anyway, never seen the naked version in Singapore. You may like to check with Mah motor for new or used models, they're the ones who brought in the 400cc version.
