I just discovered the valve stem cap on my rear tyre has been lost.

Will this cause accelerated loss of tyre pressure?

Also, do mechanics usually give out free valve stem caps?

You need to keep it covered so you do not accidentally lose pressure if the stem inside is accidently compressed and to keep debris out. Well, its a dollar or two or maybe four at the petrol stations.

can also be easily bought at any supermarket like Giant or Ntuc that has a car-care section with car wash and stuff.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Thanks guys, that was very helpful. Do these valve stem caps come in different sizes or is there just one standard size?

think about it, when you inflate your tyres at the petrol station, do they have different sized nozzles at the air pump for different models of bikes and cars and even bicycles...?
