Harley Riders gather

If I read your question correctly, the answer is "It affects both."

however some people do compromise by only lengthening forks and not changing triple trees, this does not really change the rake angle at all.

It gives the rider the effect of a raked ride due to change in ride heights on the front end versus the back.

Are you trying an "Easy Rider" mod?

Look something like tat la, recently trigger happy bid a couple of ebay items and saw a complete front with 4 inch extend and 5% rake from demon cycle. Was wondering the top tree will also rake not, if was then my handle bar will hit my tank unless I only travel in straight line. The problem with HD is that there are too many models and year make. Most items I receive do not really fit and I had to custom it.

My 2 cent inputs:

1. 2 variants: 883 cc and 1200 cc. 883 cc does have a kit to bore to 1200 cc if you so choose at a later stage.

2. Best handling harley you can buy. Yes, IMHO, it outhandles the v rod and also the dyna class.

3. Length and size wise, it is actually smaller than a honda silverwing scooter. Which means cutting traffic on CTE... easy peasy.

4. Best harley class to convert into either a chopper or bobber. Due to its good handling and weight, you can really have more options to mod it without severly affecting its handling. Eg: 20" apes on a Sporster will still outhandle 20" apes on a Road King.

5. In my earlier post i said it is the rich man's Yamaha RXK. I still stand by it. When the world ends, only a few handful of bikes will remain useable. I am so sure, the sporster will be the few.

6. Contrary to popular believe, the sporster is NOT harley entry level. Dont care what people say. The sporster if well modified, will kick ass.

7. 1200cc + Ohlins suspension rear + Pipes + Hypercharger + SE Heads + New Cams + Fork brace + New Pipes + New ignition system +... = OMG! I also want one.

8. The only Harley that you can mod into a CAFE RACER!!

9. The only Harley that you can mod into the classic evil kneivel dirt bike!!

The only way you can truly know more...is to get one. :)

Most experts aren't...and research is the difference between speculation and investment.

hi all...any sporty rider tried the front fork extenders like those found at http://www.billski182.com/Sportster_Fork_Extensions.htm? wonder if Tony can do this?

@BBB_Rider:

Never tried it but extending front fork length without changing your rake angle or your triple tree rake angle will cause quite sever handling problems.

Normally fork extensions are accompanied by rake angle change.

Just my thoughts...

I'm a sport/road rider at heart so the Sportster was a clear choice, in terms of sit style and handling. Plus I dont go touring and only ride around town so lugging a big twin would not be practical at all be that american or European or Japanese.

I guess people call the Sporty entry level simply base on the price.

Other than that, it does hold its own.

It will not cause sever handling problems, it will be the same as normal riding. Someone sporty did it with 4' and for years without any handling problem.

Hi all !

I'm thinking of getting an 883 Sportster. Only went to see and test rode 1 so far. Got a couple of questions, hope some guys here can help me:

1. How much is the maintenance for this bike? Heard that servicing at the dealership can be rather expensive.

2. I noticed there's no place to keep your barang barang at all. Even sportsbikes have space to keep your mobile, wallet, keys etc. How do you guys carry your stuff (like raincoats) around?

yeah , the XR1200 is the best looking non-harley looking Harley!

I said it before and i say it again. i like it!

however, it's not really in the cruiser cat anymore so the Sporty is still the best handling in that Category.
