Q) how much does a first hand sportster 883 cost?

A) There are various models of sportsters and naturally there are variation in prices. Further more, year-on-year prices are adjusted accordingly by the dealership. For the latest listing u can email them and request for it.

Q) any other tips for newbie who is considering harley?

A) You are moving from a Phantom to a Harley. Get acquainted with the Weight. (210-260 kg) especially during slowing down to stop.

Q) roughly how much do you guys spend on average per month of maintainance?

A) Monthly Maintainance in terms of $s?

We have covered the Servicing topic.

The only other cost incurred would be the fuel u pump and that can't classified as 'maintainance'. Perhaps u can be more specific.

You have a bad back so choose wisely.

Back-Rest should be considered.

We normally cruise between 120-140 km/h in Malaysia.

Cross winds no worries because of bikes weight.

Wind blast boils down to seating posture.

Typically on a Harley you'll find yourself seat more Vertical as oppose to

to ur zx12.

Test ride one in the dealership. Best Experienced 1st hand on the wheels than my Literal rendition of how it would feel.

Sporty is considered a city bike too. So to commute its ideal.

Just found out my (bike) dry weight is 255kg. I think weight distribution plays a part too, and the fact that I have to tip toe on my sporty. I find the Roadking easier to lift off side stand and the Yamaha Royalstar, one of the heaviest cruisers around, though it's hard to lift off the side stand too but easier to push around (foot flat on ground).

The posture of your ZX12 and any cruiser will be a big difference in terms of your back, comfort, cruising speed and windblast. The difference in engine type too will be noticeable for performance. Try to check out some specs, pictures (bike porn hee) and test ride abit. It'll help.

Speedwise depends on individual I guess. I no baller. Top speed on my 883 is 140 only. :p

I find Sportsters are great for city riding, but to me, not very ideal for touring.

I guess Harley Davidson V-Rod will probably fit your requirement for a cruiser that can go fast in a comfortable posture. Price? It cost around S$38,200.00 inclusive of COE but do enquire with Harley Davidson Singapore again to confirm. A windshield could also be fitted when you venture into Malaysia to help reduce the wind force. Top speed of the V-Rod has been tested to reach 200 kph in stock condition.

The friend has also posted the sale ads in Yahoo Auction too. If my memory serve me right, the owner posted in this forum couple of weeks back. The bike model is a Sportster but I can't recall whether it is a 883 or 1200 capacity. If you are interested, you should just give a call to the owner. :)

To Thailand & Back

yesterday i met a friend who rode to thailand, got his passport stamped and returned back to singapore within 22 hours, stops only for fuel, kit-kat & pics to prove his feat.

i know not anyone who would simply ride up and return immediately on a phantom.
