[Group] SBF DUCATI Monster

Hi dodobird. Currently going to view a 1999 carb model and a 2002 FI model. As this will be first duc wouldn't know what in particular to look out for. And bro sankar, not looking for pre 1999

Actually if u do ur research u will realise that pre 99 m900 is the better bike. Its a common mod to take a 97-99 m900 and install 94 blocks. Only disadvantage i can think of the the forks are 40mm caliper mounts which u can also swap out.

Personally i used to own a s4. Ran with a m900 many times. Not much diff in a whole but i'll rather have a 4v engine anyday.

If this is goin to be ur first ducati, u should be more concern about how much ur wallet will be able to take the stress.

So the concern of wallet will equate to cheaper upkeep I.e 2v cheaper than 4v

Yes 2v is cheaper to maintain the 4v but maybe abt 10%. your concern should be that italian parts cost 3x more then japanese.

The average cost of yearly maintenance is about 2-3k not inclusive of change of parts. Valve clearance is mandatory every 20kkm or 1 yr ehich ever comes first.

Check the following:

1. Steering column bearings

2. Wheel/tires high speed balancing

3. Rear shock (to my knowledge cannot be serviced)

4. Front / rear axles (shaft)

wobbly in the way.. when I am traveling straight. if I purposely wobble the handle. it will go on for quite a while ...

when corning . the bike just doesn't feel stable ... front.fork service.done and front wheel bearing changed .

its kinda hard to explain without riding it
