Hi all, I have riding a m620 efi model for over 1000km and 1st problem has come.

Just now I was riding from woodland to tamp, it was drizzling...it was running smoothly.

When I reached the petrol Kiosk...I pumped a 97, when I switch on the ignition and push the start button...the crank sound was normal but the fuel doesn't seem going in(it's like the fuel going in halfway)...I tried a few times but it doesn't work...I remove the fuel cap n start again..still it wasn't help.

Could it be fuel pump relay faulty?

Currently the bike was pushed back at my house n ready to tow to workshop on wed.

Does anyone encounter this problem before?

Hope to get some advice from u.

hi guys...its ok..my bike is back...

The problem is due to fuel pump connector loose. I got it tighten up and replace some hardened rubber hose and small oil filter due to wear and tear. cheers

Hi guys.. I am very keen on getting a 696 monster and have actually found one. However few things that are stopping me hope you guys are able to clear my doubts and questions. Thanks

1. How much does it cost to maintain a monster for a year (petrol, insurance, servicing)

2. How is a monster as a bike for daily use basis?

3. Has anyone gotten side panniers for their monster (custom ones from hepco & becker?)

Thanks so much once again for your advice

Hi Tim,

1. I'm not sure how far u travel per day. But what I can advice is 696 is not meant for often usage. FC is should be around 20+km per liter. Regular service is same as Japan bikes...but the ex part is the timing chain.($600) It is advice to change every 15000km. Please take note that the accessories n parts is not cheap.

2.transport from point A-B is fine.

3.u can custom the rack at seng kwang or any other shop...

Cheers

Dear timothy, im riding monster 796. For new bike not much to maintain...

1. Petrol for class 2 bike? Its a ducati. I get around 230-240km full tank. Most of the time 70% highway ride. Full insuarnce coverage aka 1st party around $1k. Servicing not much... Manual says 1k km n every 12k but i did mine at 1k,3k,6k....iam very particular about engine oil.. Its the blood of the bike.. Dont ask me why.

2. I ride my bike daily, around 35km daily. No problem at all. So no worries.

3. I dont fix neither box or panniers. It is so ugly n hard to lane splitting.

Remember to clean n oil your chain at least every 500km! :)

#1 consideration is after-sales/warranty support...which PI bikes DO NOT have. So if there is a part or bike recall of any sort, you will not get it...not even if you bring it to Minerva, I think. What warranty does Looi provide - by their own workshop? My 2 cents, if you are going to buy a Ducati, buy direct from Minerva for peace of mind. Choosing between a Ducati vs Triumph... have you looked carefully at the finishing of the Triumph? Enough said...

Hi anyone has experience buying ducati from looi's before? Besides the shorter warranty period (1 year instead of 2 years from ducati agent), are there any other things I should consider?

The price of a 796 with abs is only 23k, compared to 27k for the agent. Its like getting a 796 for the price of 696! Would love to hear from you guys, before I make my decision.

Was deciding between the 696 and the street triple, but then came across the 796 at looi's. Man its really tough making a decision among those bikes.

So did you get the bike in the end?

I ride a 696 too and one of the reasons why I chose this over the older Ducati models (m400 etc) is because it's 'newer technology (fuel injection etc)' so technically, it might give me less to think about. Of course this varies between different bikes.

Furthermore, I read in US forums that they use the 696 for daily transport and their distances to and form work are substantially larger than our small distances. The bike can withstand more than one might think. Maintenance and servicing is standard but if you set aside certain budget for it over the year, than it's manageable.

I ride it to work everyday and it's my daily commuter bike. I keep regular servicing and it's fine. My only gripe is that the stock mirrors make it wider so splitting in between lanes on a congested road is trickier than I am used to but that could be remedied by shorter mirrors (which I have yet to source. any recommendations anyone? lol).

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

The stock mirrors made my rear view vibrates like there is an earthquake behind me. Lol

I hv changed them to rizoma. What i can say that the rizoma's has reduce some vibration unlike the stock mirror. Splitting in between lanes are around the same. Unless u want those bar end mirrors. Other than that its just a cosmetic upgrades.

@Rudinator, there's one beautifully painted Tri-color M400 at SBF's Bikemart section.. Link below..

http://www.singaporebikes.com/used_bikes/10653/ducati_monster_400/

Infact there's another 2 more M400 in Bikemart section, 1 of which I nearly bought over.. Lady owner and very well maintained..

hi all.. seriously considering getting an m4, any rough guide as to upkeep costs? hope there's someone to help me out.. :))

@silly_wonka87, don't consider..! Go get it..! Haha..! So far servicing is $128 at every 5000km for me.. Havn't tasted valve clearence, so I can't advice on that yet..
