Same here, though i still keep my jap 600cc bike. I was in a dilemma between getting a Triumph Street Triple and a Monster 796, and eventually settled on the Ducati.

 

Which monster did you get?

Haha..same thought here. My backside itchy n wanted to graduate from japanese bike makes. So i was looking for a raw power bike. I looked at speed triple n monster. Single swingarm fascinates me. Then i classify triumph as a maserati n ducati as a ferrari. Then i decided to get a ferrari. To me getting a ducati is a sense of achievement...hehe...

 

Anyways, mine is a 1100 evo....

deathism - the fuel consumption for the 1100 evo is anywhere from 11km/l to 15km/l, depending on how hard you ride the bike (it loves to be throttled hard, you'll understand it only if you ride it ). Essentially the fuel reserve light comes on after 10 liters of fuel consumed, and that's usually about 120km - 140km for me. So yes, it drinks as much fuel as a car. The newer Monster 1200S is much more efficient at 15-19kml.

Hi Ian. Nice to meet u here. Yes, i read ur blog for a few times before convincing myself to get an evo monster as well. I got mileage at 16-17km but i do most eway riding to work. I'm very interested to know how u switch from ur evo to 1200s. Can u pm me? Thxs.

Yeah, that fuel estimation on the LCD is never accurate. My 1200S meter display is about 3kml off the actuals. (Shows 20kml when reality is 17kml)

 

Is your 821 still running in? I thought the fuel consumption would be better than the 1200...

just completed my 1000km run in.

P.S my bike sometimes i feel abit under untilised. 1 week maybe move out 2 time.

For me, after paying so much for a good bike, why let it stay in the carpark. I'm riding m1100evo n i ride it daily to work. I clock the same mileage as u do monthly.

Hhmm....i dont know but for me, before i purchase this bike, i factored in the affordability of the maintenance of the bike. Shldnt we? Anyway, the maintenance is a must right? Either it comes faster or slower depends on your mileage clockage. What i noticed is only a slight more expensive compared to a japanese litre bike.

true! But used CBR150r honda before! No idea about this bike's costs yet. Other than cost the time need for servicing too much for me, who works 6 days a week.

Yeah. Thats one of my peeves too. Have to leave the bike for a day in every 12k n 24k servicing. But i just think that it comes as a pkg. If we look this way, if we clock 1000km a mth, that means it will take 12 mths to perform the service. So 1 day in a year w/o a bike seems not too bad. Just hope that doing the servicing religiously will prevent any major issues.

my bike second hand over 50k now. what will be the interval suppose to be? every 12k? then how to change oil at every 5k?

Interval shld be 48k for 12k service, 60k for 24k service n so on. Then in between u do the 5k oil chg. U can download the manual from internet. Just google for ur bike model n chl the service intervals.

Hi guys, looking to get a 400cc monster. My research shows that it could ask up to $5.5k for a 1998 FP plate. Seller asking for 9.5. Any recommendations on where else I can get a good deal? He bought it for $7k.
