im interested in this too.. the only boots I think rly suit office wear is hush puppies side zipper boots..

Ya, saw the hush puppies side zipper.. for the price of ard $160.. so was thinking max well get a riding boots if i can find 1 that goes well with office wear.

Wouldn't it be easier to change them in the office? Don't think I've seen anything practical for the office for riding

not so easy to change in office... and if after office im going out straight for some appt or coffee.. wearing a riding boots with shirt & pants.. errmm.. doesnt goes well leh..

There's no 2 ways around. Riding boots have their purposes which is to provide protection and either waterproof or water resistant. Most riding boots have additional layer at the top of feet/toe for gear changing protection, and that'll definitely be mismatch to office wear if you are particular.

I wear boots to work daily and change in office. If I need to go out straight after work that so be it. Most of my friends knows I riding anyway so it doesn't matter I'm wearing boots with office wear.

Try Harley Davidson boots. They may match your office attire but may not match your bike. Hahaha. Well, depends on what bike you ride...

Honda CG145, Honda CB150R ExMotion. And a few others in between...

Anyone bought one of those RS taichi Boa Closure System shoes? Are they durable? The cable/lacee) is thin. Anywhere else besides motoworld selling RS taichi?

I was happy with ny taichi (double velcro) but they dont make that anymore.

go checkout blundstone, its an aussie brand. Its total waterproof and formal office wear friendly. All the other riding boots looks damn ugly to be wearing with formal office wear.

nah take a look, u can go to office wearing this cos its fitting with office formal wear instead of looking like an idiot wearing

riding boots with formal office wear which reminds me of a football crazed colleague who comes to work wearing his street soccer boots with his office pants n shirt.... the only thing missing is a football jersey and a pair of gloves (cos he's a goalkeeper) from stopping him to play street soccer in the office. N he never got married even after turning 50 so u make a wild guess why.

The boot is comfortable after break in and super waterproof, your clothes would get wet first before your feet gets wet trust me. Oh btw i used the same pair for many years riding a scrambler DR650 n had a lowside accident which the bike was on my feet scraping the boot with the tarmac and i escaped with all my toes intact. N plus point, its a slip on, so no need to waste time tie laces.

U want more protection, ah this one below is steel toe summore n looks really executive style.

Blundstones look good with toe protection, but don't seem to have ankle protection?

Some other suggestions in this thread - like Forma, TCX etc. do have reinforced ankles.

Here is another suggestion - seems to check all boxes: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tcx-urban-waterproof-boots

I've not used this model, but have used another TCX model for work-day rides - no complaints. If Chiap Lee doesn't have it, ask him to bring it in / get it from Revzilla:)

not sure it has ankle protection but i did survive a lowside with the bike scraping on my feet. I walked away fine except that i had abrasions on other parts of my body.

But the model u suggested looks good n it sure blends in with office attire. I just detest wearing motorcycle riding gear to go to the office or walking around with the missus in town cos i hate wearing colorful, outlandish. loud and conspicuous clothes with a huge brand smacked onto it which again reminds me of my football crazy colleague who wears a man U bag, a man U cap, street soccer boots and even a man U singlet underneath his office shirt n pants!

Dun get me wrong, i do not have anything against man U or football cos i play football n even represented the school team once but walking around like that, makes one wonder, do u actually have anything else in life to look forward to except for football. Same goes with motorcycle racer fashion. Just not my cup of tea.

I've even been known to not wear scrambler jerseys n just put on a pair of long sleeve t shirts on long malaysian enduro trails whilst all the newbies are all sporting some kind of jersey by FOX or Oneil or some brand and boots by alpine star etc whilst i put on an old pair of steel toed redwings. Of course i invested on a good pair full face arais, gloves, elbow pads n put on some knee and shin guards to protect from stones flying when someone roost past by.

Revzilla has it in stock now - just bought a pair! :) But frankly, the soles are so thick and the upper slightly bulky, it looks less like office wear and more like industrial boots! Check out the photo below for a real life, 'non-photoshopped'' comparison. TCX is second pair from left.

Boots comparison.jpg

The sole is thick with grooves and the toebox is bulky - great for protection and slip resistance - bit looks less like office wear.

Check out the Dainese TRQ touring boots (third from left) - defly looks slimmer at the toe area!

Just added my work shoes (mid cut and normal) for comparison

btw, the boots are available here as well (more expensive to bring in from UK tho):

Thanks for the pic Garfield, it gives a great comparison here. Too bad, thought these would be a bit more office-friendly. I actually put in an order for them on FC-Moto. Total was under $240, not too bad for nice decent pair of boots, but unfortunately looks like it won't be as I was hoping...

Oh well, at least I'll have something to wear around town rather than my full-on touring boots! (Those are also TCX, they make good stuff.)

Huh, interesting, guess you didn't like them Garfield?

While I agree that they do not go with a suit, in a business casual setting they work passably... at least, better than any other motorcycle boot I've seen so far. The boots have a good grained leather look, and sort of remind me of a chelsea boot with (likely faux) Goodyear welt stitching on them, though I do agree that they are a step down in terms of formality given the thicker sole

I do normally have an alternate pair of shoes which I change into at work, but just in case I don't have time, I believe I can get by with the TCX Urban boots without too many people noticing and making comments.

My persona take on these is that while they aren't the most protective boot around, they do have a stiff sole than normal (though steel shank boots may be stiffer?) and a firm toe-box which gets close to steel-toe alternatives, but also has a bit more padding and support on the outside of the ankle. While I'll still use my other boots for any long rides, these will work around Singapore, especially when walking around off the bike.

Garfield, if you do find a pair of boots you're more happy with, do share, having alternatives is always a good thing! :)

I let them go only cos they did not fit me as well as laced shoes from TCX and boots from Dainese (I have slim ankles & narrow/medium width feet - feet slide around inside most boots!).

Totally agree with you on the looks and protection part - haven't seen a better combo of looks & protection yet!

btw, my approach has changed - hv stopped searching for office-wear looking mcycle boots!

I have huge-assed boxes on my bike, my job doesn't require traveling during the day and I also have access to covered parking.

So, hv decided to just wear (laced, waterproof, comfortable, but not dressy) mcycle shoes and carry dress shoes (also have a spare pair of dress shoes under my desk).

Grand plan is to change shoes after I park & before I start the bike*!

Agree that this will not work for all and (even for me) at all times - but, hey - life is all about compromises:)

*Let's see if I am disciplined enough to give myself that extra minute every time I commute!

So... I came across some boots from BMW, the City boots, which look to have a slightly better profile than the TCX Urban boots. I'll definitely try to check them out sometime when I find a store which stocks them, but doubt I'll be dropping additional $$$ just to test these out over the TCX Urbans...

Of course, if anyone out there knows where these might be sold within Singapore, do tell!

(Also found the Parlor boots that Alpinestars used to make, but these have been discontinued for at least 2-3 years... oh well.)
