By the way, can I ask a question? I bought a pair of Stebal electric horns (the horns are with a "silver" cover) about two weeks from LAB and went to MotorFactor today. The mechanic didn't managed to fix them for me. They said that the horns are too thick and if I were to install at the positions of the stock horns, these two thick Stebal horns will be hitting against the radiator "netting".

They ask me to try to go to LAB to try to exchange for a set of "thinner" horns. I went back to LAB in the evening, Ah Boy refused to exchange and insisted that this pair of "thick" horns confirm can install.

So can I ask are the horns able to be fix onto FJR (where can I install them?)? If not, what type of horns are you guys using? I find the stock horns not very loud, esp when traveling on NSH.

I want to install a head-light switch and fan switch. But the mechanic advised that the circuit for the headlights very complex, better don't anyhow alter it. And they said the thermostat is underneath the "T-bone" metal piece, have to open up and find teh thermostat b4 able to install the wiring for the fan switch.

In the end, I only install a volt-meter besides my ignition key-hole and change my EO. Around 4 bottles (about 3.6L of EO, I took home the remaining EO) of Maxima 5W50 EO.

Nonsense! Either that mechanic dunno how to do it or is simply too lazy!

Look for ah heng from southerns motors. He's the expert in electrical and practically anything bout FJR.

bro seahmh... firstly i would not recommend for u to do a switch for the fan... ( u mean u can on and off the fan manually control) if this is the case if u add this function you might forget to turn on the fan during heavy traffic and this may cause over heating... this is very dangerous.... and if u forget to off the fan even when riding and is not heating up, this is a waste of battery...

Bro deanz, yes, you are very right, my intentions are what you have said. hmm... Thanks very much for your advice. I never thought of that. My thoughts(I know I will sound stupid and naive) are that even after I installed the fan switch, the thermostat will still be working automatically and the switch is just an additional function for me to switch the fan ON and/or OFF. I didn't realised that after I install the fan switch, the thermostat control will no longer be working automatically and the fan will NOT be activated automatically but will now be control manually by me.

What you have advised of I will forget to switch on during heavy heating and I will forget to switch off and waste battery are very RIGHT... Thanks for your advice. :thumb:

I will ask the mechanic carefully before deciding to install the fan switch.

Any FJR riders out there can advise me what sort of better, louder horns that you have changed to?? I really find the stock a little soft, esp when going touring on NSH.

well... i've also installed a pair of Hella Horns at Looi's, definately cant fix it at the original spot, jus add a smalll bracket behind yr Fairings, sure can fix on lah. BUT the PROB is that u bought the horn at LAB, u should get them to fix for u??? COs u bring it elsewhere, they usually lazy to do so, cos alot of work, but earn little $$$, Correct???

I've installed the fan-switch on my FJR, tot of the headlight-switch too. the fan-switch is very simple, NO NEED to by-pass the thermostat, jus add an additional switch to manually on it, but the thermostat will still work normally.

headlight-switch: was told by Mech that the headlight wirings are abit messy, thus not advisable to cut the wires and then add a switch, thus didnt do it. my advice: try not to affect too much wirings, cos if not u go Touring, then the wires short-circuit, really cry heaven cry earth...:giddy:

i dunno about 06 model. But if ur toking about earlier models, stebel magnum wont fit at the stock horns locations UNLESS you cut the inner black colour panels that are getting in the way. I did that. You can try fjrtech.com.

OTHERWISE, you can install at other locations. One of which is near the header area. You have to ask capirexx about that. Seldom see him around this thread though.

Okay, me this fool will definitely try to meet up with you guys in your next meet-up, to learn from you wise guys.

Anyway, the mechanic didn't fix up both switch for me. He said the fan switch was most probably connected to the ECU(Sorry, I am not too sure about the correct name for it). SO he didn't want to anyhow touch the wirings and affect the ECU.

: the fan-switch is very simple, NO NEED to by-pass the thermostat, jus add an additional switch to manually on it, but the thermostat will still work normally.

That was precisely what I had in mind too, to fix the switch to be able to turn the fan ON and OFF manually, but yet the thermostat still can work automatically and activate itself when the temp is too high. Cos all my Busa friends managed to do it by just tapping the wire of the thermostat or something like that. But when the mechanic realised that for FJR, the wirings are connected to the ECU, he didn't want to take any chances.

BTW, for all your Hella horns, are they Electric horns or Air-horns??
