Anybody know where I can get replacement for sprocket kit locally, besides Evershine? OEM would be best. They lasted me for 3 years now. Time for replacement.

I recently purchase oem oil filter from the dealer @ 23 bucks. I tried asking Boon Siew for Honda oil filter compatible with 1st gen, and was quoted 33 bucks.

Try FJT for honda oil filter... is cheaper.

Go any bike shop, they will order from evershine no diff...

Thought we replied this before. I've used FZ1 (gen2, 06-up) oil filter, probably cheapest

Same thing with sprocket. Go get a supersprock or something. If you want OEM, than JB dealer is your best bet. As mentioned, other shops order from Evershine too and I heard from my mech, they don't get any discount from Evershine.

Dealer quoted price for sprockets:

Front> $75

Rear> $120

Kok,

Is the RM225 sprocket from motomatic O.E.M? If so, what's their address?

Any1 care to share the Z1000 mileage for full tank??

Heard is about 140km-170km...:faint:

Yes, that sounds possible.... if you don't shift higher than 2nd gear.

On gen1, I get 200 on full tank with mostly stop start riding. Hardly shift higher than 4th.

I think Gen 1 is 15 + 3L reserve. Anyways, I pump when my fuel indicator starts to flash. I pump 15L at that point. I get around 220 for 15L.

Gen1 have a larger tank.

i believe the new z1000 is 15L include of resv, which is 12.5L + 3L Resv???

any1 can verify??

220km for a tank is good euff as using it for touring.

Normally gg up north i stop every 200-220km which make up to 5 petrol stop before reaching sadao.

There's a common problem (at least with Gen1) of the pump not getting to the last bit of fuel in the 18L tank. Happened to at least another Gen1 owner here that I know of. I ran till dry (engine coughing) once and top up only 15+ L The last 3L is a goner and thus the fuel light comes on early too. Bad fuel mileage and bad range but not as bad as my hypermotard which I still took to Hatyai :)

3L reserve is pretty common. Just look up the specs of the Gen3 online. If it says 15L, then you have 12 + 3.

Vin, thanks for the warning! I always assumed I had a 3L backup. Wasted weight

Not necessarily for your case. From my discussion with Elan, the fuel sensor seems to be offseted so I still got a decent (prob 3L) of reserve after the fuel light comes on, i.e. my fuel light comes on at 12L, ~170km range :( If you are putting in 15L when the light comes on, then prob your sensor is working properly.

Should have but never got around to searching for a fix.

Sadly, based on feedback from some riders, having a longer shield may or may not help, depending on your height, etc. The wind blast might just move from your chest to your head, making it much worse.

To paraphrase the advice Elan gave me once, "Either you ride at a comfortable speed of 120-130 or you man up and whack 200km to get to your destination faster"

I chose option 1 after trying and failing at option 2. Enjoy the scenery!

Haha, may I add an option 3:

Chicken out and buy a sports touring bike :)

I initially thought CBR1000 or ZX-10r would be good for that.... but now I am thinking I will get one of those adventure bikes instead.
