Hello all,

Anyone else here riding a Z1000? Mine is an orange 2003 model and currently the only accessories I've purchased are a PUIG aftermarket touring screen and a Huge Industries fender eliminator kit.

I've had the bike on the track (PG) only once so far and so far so good. Have to admit that I took it very easily though as I didn't want to risky dropping it and scratching up the shocking orange paintwork.

As for riding at speed the fastest I've had the bike is 235km/h and the wind blast is a killer over 200km/h with the standard screen which is why I got the PUIG unit. (yet to test that out though).

I'd love to know what other modifications other have done to their bikes and how pleased they are with the results. I'm considering getting the 4-1 Micron system but sadly it's not street legal so that fact alone is holding me back. The other item I'm seriously considering if I keep the bike is a Corbin aftermarket seat because the standard unit isn't very comfy on long rides and I only ride in Malaysia on weekends so most rides are a minimum 2-300km.

The bike currently has just under 5000km on it and every km I've done has been a joy. :)

Happy riding,

C.

I also prefer the pipe on the 750. The 4 pipes on my Z1000 are such a ###### to clean. THEY SUCK! that's why I want the micron 4-1 system.

Apart from that the Z750's front forks aren't the lovely gold inverted units that you will find on the thou and the rear swingarm is also kinda tacky in comparison. It used the same speedo unit but for some reason they chose a slightly different and not half as nice cowling. So sad!

Hi James,

Will do. We might be heading to PG for a track session (easy track "tour" in my case) on Sunday morning. Probably the early slot at 9:30-10:30.

Let me know if you're interested.

Regards,

Chris.

Well the main reason for selling is because my friends are going to the track quite often and I've decided to buy a track bike. Anyway the group was going on Sunday for the 3 hour session and I was going to take my little sonic for fun but I couldn't get the aftermarket sets fitted in time (and I scrape the sonics pegs on the road so can't ride track with the standard ones) so I decided to take the Z instead.

Finally learnt to ride it properly yesterday and I was VERY happy with the results. That said I'd still like to see how fast I could go on a full sports bike though.

Saw HEAPS of bikes run off and crash yesterday though. Scary! I'd had to think how the Z would look if I low sided it or even worse high-sided it.

CONFUSED!

:p

After the weekend the bike mileage is almost 5,500km.

yeah it uses quite a bit of fuel.

Esp if you whack it. =p

but then again if you want fuel economy buy a sonic ;)

The only option I can figure for a box is to buy and use a rear seat. Rip off the cover and foam and mount an alloy givi box mount to the seat base but this doesn't allow for a pillion. At least this way you can simply remove the box mount and replace it with the seat as and when you feel like it. I've even worked out a design that allows for a pillion and a box but it would take some time (and considerable expense) to fabricate it.

I also would have liked a box on the bike but I've got the sonic for that.

To mount a standard givi type mount to the Z would be a sin.

it'll be damn ugly with a box right?

i like this bike a lot but i'd also like a box fitted. any similar bike to recommend or did anyone put a box on the z1000? like to take a look or catch a pic.

ColorBlind> Mainly wanna get a real track bike so I can push hard at the track without fear of dropping and messing up such a lovely bike. I've got my eyes on a CBR-929 at the moment actually. I've got a goal to catch my friend on the track on his R1 and I'm too scared to push the Z that hard because if it goes down it will be a big mess.

I don't think the bike needs many other accesories and I'm very happy with it's looks. And from experience so far I think it does pretty well without a steering damper.
